It does a massage mode at first then it starts the suction process but the massage is to stimulate the milk production. It does not hurt when set at a good level. It's best to start these out at 30 minutes at your max I usually only go maybe 20. For each breath. This does have a fairly big LED screen super easy to read. It has different suction levels and it can pump at certain times and stop. But it will always automatically shut off after 30 minutes. Now I had to order me a special flange because they did not come with my size but it does come with your standards. But I really do enjoy how much these are hands-free and I don't have to be stuck to one room these would make great baby shower gifts for any mom wanting to start breastfeeding

My wife has mentioned these things are life savers. These portable pumps are easy to stash in the diaper bag and are great for emergency or just convenient use. Only downfall is they are a little bulky in public and the amount of parts to clean are a bit more than with your standard breast pump. Otherwise suction power is great and the extraction is on par with what she gets from her Motif Luna pump. The amount of parts to wash and bulkiness are made up with convenience factor which is why you would get something like this in the first place.

Made very well, great suction, not too hard. I love the different settings to customize how you respond to it. Easy to clean and assemble. Quiet pump, not very noticeable while in public.
