  • Glitchy from day one, but still the best pump.
Style: Sonata with new Flex Breast Shields
First of all, this thing has glitches. They might even start from the first time you use it. Why am I still giving it 5 stars? So far, glitches are all they are, and they're manageable. The comfort of the breast shields on this pump is by far the best I've experienced, and the suction is on par with a hospital pump, even when it's not plugged in and running portable. I have a large chest, so the rims of pump shields will invariably cut into my breast tissue; these have a soft rim, so it's more comfy than others. The kit also comes with two sizes of flanges, the second being a smaller size instead of a bigger one (like a Spectra comes with), so that's a plus for me, since I need the smaller flange. The extras are nice, like the little bottle holder and the freezer pack - I've definitely used these. The pump is overall quite portable and I can generally pump at least twice without charging it, which I don't usually do, because of the glitches. Which I'll go into now. The glitches seem to be related to the power cord or the connection with the cord. You need to really watch when it's plugged in and make sure it's making a connection - you should see the little lightning bolt to indicate it's plugged in, and it should stay steadily lit. If it's not, you need to unplug it and replug it, mess with the cord position, whatever works. You will definitely see the thing come on with CALL on the display, indicating it's broken and you need to call customer service. If it's plugged in when that happens, unplug it, then turn it off. When you turn it back on, it should be fine again. If not, turn off again and back on again until it clears. It happens to me multiple times a day, from day one, but so far it hasn't been actually broken and I haven't had to really call. It definitely freaked me out the first time it happened, though. As long as the glitches stay mere annoyances, I'm very satisfied with this pump. It's as comfortable as pumping can get, portable, powerful even without being plugged in, and as effective as a Symphony. It takes a little patience sometimes, but it's overall very worth the price to me. (I paid for it, since I got a Spectra with my insurance, and this one wasn't offered.) ... show more

  • Great pump!

Definitely compares to the ones at the hospital. Love the fact that it holds a charge too.

  • Love it. Worth every penny
Had the Medela PISA for baby #1 and used it for 18 months before deciding to fork out for the newer pump for baby #2. Love it. Worth every penny. my PISA sits in a corner collecting dust while I lug my Sonata to and from work day in day out. Used the Medela PISA previously (for 18 mths with Baby #1) but decided to fork out to get the newer pump for baby #2. I still have the PISA but it's in a corner collecting dust while i lug the Sonata between office and home on a daily basis. I rather use Sonata than the PISA. The Good: - touch screen. The dial on the PISA lost its "sensitivity" and i found myself having to dial up for the same suction. Been using the Sonata for 11 months now and it's still as good as the day I got it - suction. I'm in Asia so I need to us step-down voltage converter. When I use it in the US without the converter the suction is definitely stronger than when I use the step-down in Asia. And yet, the suction still beats the PISA (i'm using level 7 on Sonata vs 10 [max] on the PISA) - ability to pump 1, or both sides. With the PISA you have to cover the other pipe outlet if you want to just pump 1 side, with this, you can just pump the single side without adjusting anything - portability. see below on battery life. allows me to pump in places where electric outlets are simply not an option - battery life. I pump 10-15 mins every time when I'm at work, and 20-30 mins when I'm at home, a battery charge lasts 4-5 pumps before the battery needs recharging. I take it with me on business trips and for day trips, I don't bother bringing the cables - quiet. sooooo much quieter than the PISA. Allows for discreet pumping (especially in meeting rooms as I don't have access to a pumping/bf facilities at work) - sturdy/reliability - I take cabs and trains to work, people run into me, my son plays with the pump and knocks it to the floor a few times, the pump is durable and unaffected in the least bit - the app - allows you to record pump volumes, times etc - size/weight - goes back to the portable issue. light and small enough for me to carry around in my handbag day in day out Bad: - the app - why does the entry need to be manually input, can it not sync with the pumps so that it registers the pump output/times automatically? - number of parts. A lot more parts than the PISA, most of them harder to clean than the PISA parts ... show more

  • Just buy it!
Style: Sonata with new Flex Breast Shields
This is THE ONE! I’m exclusively pumping and started with the Pump in Style w/ Max Flow. That pump is a bit aggressive even at the lowest setting. The Sonata gives me everything that I’m looking for: hospital-grade function, quick breast emptying, quiet, great portability and easy on my nips.

  • Wrong carry bag
Style: Sonata with new Flex Breast Shields
The pump itself has been working. Disappointed it came with a small backpack that doesn’t fit the pump and bottles. I really wanted the tote bag that is advertised on the bag :( Unfortunately I need the pump and can’t return the whole thing just to see if I’ll get the correct tote bag. For the price, it should have come with the bag they advertise on the box. ... show more

  • The best.
Style: Sonata with new Flex Breast Shields
2.5 years of use and by far my favorite pump. I tried several others throughout this time due influence of convenience and found that nothing compared. No other pumps emptied like this one which in turn maintained and/or increased milk production. The parts are easy to clean/easily replaced. I also like that standard sized bottles of any kind could be attached. ... show more

It really is a great pump . I might like it better than the symphony. It’s easy to use and it’s quite.
