  • Highly recommend
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
Absolutely love this pump. I got it to use as my only pump while working. I was nervous that it wouldn’t pump as well as my spectra, however I get just as much milk as I did for my first baby using the spectra pump. I’ve been using it for 5 months and am so happy I purchased it. The battery life could be better. I can usually get three pumps before the battery is down to one. The battery is only broken up into three sections, which is a bummer because I would like to have a better idea of how much battery is left. The noise level is loud enough that I couldn’t be around people without them hearing it, but it’s discreet enough that I will do it at my desk if there aren’t people right around, and then if someone comes up to me I can just pause it. For me, the best part is being able to pump in the car on my commute to work. Rather than showing up to work 30 minutes early to get a pump in, I just pump in my car and empty it out when I get to work. It’s also portable enough that I can do some things at home while pumping. I have to be careful not to bend over or do anything to mess up the pump suction, but it’s still much nicer than being tied down with my spectra pump. I’ve had a few issues with it freezing up while pumping and not being able to adjust anything, but a quick reset has resolved the issue every time… however it’s frustrating to spend so much money on a pump for it to not work properly. What’s more is my concern that the issue will get worse. Overall I am very happy I purchased this pump and would recommend it to anyone considering it. ... show more

  • Disappointed & out almost $300
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
This is a long review, but if anything READ THIS: When I read the manual one thing caught my attention, that I think is important to note, especially if you are an EP and/or are planning on pumping for an extended period; “The operating life of the breast pump is 250 hours.” That means that at 15 min a pump, 8 pumps a day, this will last you a little over 4 months. Medela has a 1-year warranty but will it cover it if it states the operating life is 250 hours? My guess is no. For the cost of the pump to only be good for 4 maybe 5 months I don’t find it worth it, but of course it’s not advertised. I wish I could get my money back. I really wanted to love this pump. I was so excited when it went on sale for prime day and I got it. I paid $279 (from $349). I’m a first time mom, & the pump that I got through my insurance did not work for me at all (motif duo). My son was in NICU for 11 days so I was able to use the Medela Symphony during that time. The lactation specialist recommended that I look for a Medela pump, so I got the Medela Advanced pump, and it worked very well, but it was not hands free so i was stuck to the spot for 20 min every 3 hours (I over produce so my Dr. recommend that I pump a little extra so I don’t have to pump every 2 hours). Back to the freestyle; the suction is not the same, so my expression is way less (even at a high level) I only get about half of what I usually get & it leaves me feeling still full & wanting to pump sooner. The pump has a vibration feel that lingers around for sometime after every pump. The pump/monitor is hard to carry around, there’s a wristband but you’ll hit everything as you move your hands around, and yes, it can easily fit in your pocket, but it is very sensitive to touch, so you’ll accidentally press the buttons all the time. I tried putting it in between my boobs, but the vibration feeling was even stronger. It’s almost like you’ve got to sit and place if face up when pumping so it doesn’t touch anything, which completely defies the purpose. If you pump longer than 15 minutes the pump/monitor freezes, the buttons don’t work and it won’t stop when you press the play/pause, you’ll have to power it off from the power button and then when I power it back on it gives me an error (E2) which I’ve looked for in the manual and did not find anywhere. I also asked the chat on the app and it did not give me an answer. It kinda freaks me out a little when it happens because I’m afraid it’s just going to keep pumping and I won’t be able to turn it off & will have to pull my nipples free. The Medela app (iPhone) has good potential, very good informational articles/videos on baby development, breastfeeding, pumping, etc. but the stats from connecting to the pump, are glitchy, it won’t let me input my own pump session & it freezes often. I also do like that it will automatically change to expression mode after two minutes. & I also like that it’s only 3 parts to clean per pump & no tiny parts. I did extensive research on a hands free pump because of how pricey they are, other brands such as Momcozy, Willow Go, & Elvie are ranked higher, but I love my Medela pump so much that I wanted to give Medela Hands Free a shot. Again, I wish I could get my money back. ... show more

  • They are the best.
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
Ignore anyone who recommends any other brand. Second time mom here. First time, i had medela all the time, used for 14months, but they are not fully hands free. So idiot me, thought second time get truly fully handfree one(ps i still had the medela one from first time-thought to keep them as spare) Bought all big brands(trust me i did-5 of them) and no one worked best. Either suction stopped, or not getting much output or leaking all the time. Frustrated me always end of using medela one from 1st time. So i decided to buy these again, yes not truly fully hands free- but worked from first time itself. Very basic simple and work best. Trust me best best. Full output, never leaks. Easy to assemble and only 3 parts.simple. Trusting medela always. ... show more

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Strong, Reliable, and Lasted Me Through 19 Months of Daily Use
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
I can confidently say this is one of the best purchases I’ve made as a mom. I’ve been using this Medela pump for almost 19 months, every single day, at least 3 times a day. It has been a true workhorse and has helped me continue breastfeeding far longer than I ever expected. I originally bought it when I returned to work and had to pump while my daughter was in daycare so she would still have breastmilk there. For the first 15 months, it worked flawlessly. Then, after so much heavy use, the battery stopped holding a charge. At that point, I simply kept it plugged in while pumping, which wasn’t a problem for me since I often pump in the car or at my desk. Even with that minor change, the pump continued to work reliably for several more months before it finally started acting up. On average, I’m able to pump about 4 ounces in a 15–20 minute session. Of course, that’s just my personal experience — I know results will vary depending on each person’s milk supply — but I find that efficiency really helpful on busy days. I was so happy with its performance that I didn’t even think twice before ordering the exact same pump again. Considering the amount of use it’s had — 19 months, multiple times a day — I think the lifespan is excellent. The suction is strong, which makes pumping sessions efficient. It’s also very straightforward to operate, which is important when you’re short on time. The size is practical — I’ve even managed to tuck it into my pants pocket while using it (it’s slightly larger than a pocket, but it stayed in place and didn’t fall out). If I had to mention a downside, it’s that it isn’t the quietest pump. Personally, that never bothered me, but it might be something to consider if noise level is important to you. Pros: • ✅ Lasted 19 months with heavy daily use • ✅ Strong suction for effective pumping • ✅ Easy to operate and clean • ✅ Portable size for on-the-go use • ✅ Reliable even after long-term use Cons: • ❌ Battery may lose capacity after long, heavy use • ❌ Slightly louder than some pumps Summary: This pump has been an essential part of my breastfeeding journey. It’s strong, dependable, and easy to use, and it held up far longer than I expected given how much I used it. Based on my personal experience, it’s efficient and convenient, and I feel confident recommending it to any mom looking for a reliable everyday pump. ... show more

  • So happy I bought this pump!!
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
I’m not new to breast pumps. With my first baby, I used the Spectra 2. This time I wanted something hands free and easier to carry around. I initially got the Willow Go but SOOO many parts to clean!! And finicky - if just one part is not placed just right, it doesn’t work well. I ordered this pump and am so happy I did!! Been using it about a month now and works well for me. I’m doing a combination of breast feeding and pumping. I pump 1-2 times daily. While it doesn’t have as strong of suction as the Spectra, it’s enough for me. LOVE that it only has 3 parts per cup and assembly is super easy. Plus, if the parts are straight out of the sterilizer and still damp, it still works perfectly. AND replacement parts are relatively affordable. Comes with 2 flange sizes too. The pump is louder than others. If you are on the phone with someone, they will hear it. But doesn’t bother me much. 2 reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: occasionally the screen freezes (has happened to me twice over the 1 month of daily use so far) and only resolves with power cycling. Also, when the screen is working properly, it’s easy to accidentally hit a button, which means I can’t easily slip it in my pocket without inadvertently pausing it or changing the suction setting. ... show more

  • Good but doesn't live up to the hype
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
Writing the review I wish I had read before purchasing. I will start by saying that this pump does work very well so far for me. It gets the job done and im able to pump as much as my baby has needed thus far. However the cup components are cheaply made and overpriced. They are very stiff at first. The cups feel flimsy and the latch is difficult to work with. They are very hard to disassemble and use at first. Unfortunately I went to take it apart and wash on day 1 and it snapped and broke. I've rarely seen plastic break so easily... replacing the broken piece is quite pricey given the quality in my opinion. However as I use the pump more and more the pieces do seem to get less stiff and are easier to work with so thats good. I did reach out to customer service but the pump isn't returnable through Amazon once opened and all they could do was refer me to the company website. I emailed the company and they assured me the parts have a 90 day warranty and would be covered but I cannot for the life of me find where to register my pump online so I can take advantage of the warranty. Plus it seems a phone call is required, which for me just isn't worth it while sleep deprived and caring for my infant son and other children. They don't make it easy unfortunately and for the cost of the product and rave reviews I expected better. (Perhaps I'm spoiled by how easy returns usually are through Amazon.) Ultimately I decided to order the replacement part and other spare parts to replace as needed so I would be ready for the next break. That being said, I still give it a 4 star review. The pump itself seems to work very well so far (3 weeks of use around the clock at this point). Replacement parts are easy to find and order. Although I feel they are overpriced (to be fair, I tend to feel that way about many baby products.). And at the end of the day I feel its still worth the cost to help with breast feeding my son. And like I said before, I have no complaints about the pump itself. Works very well so far! Hope this is helpful ❤ *UPDATE - im lowering my 4 star to a 3 star rating. Not even 7 months of use and the pump no longer functions. I'm having to replace and they don't sell JUST the pump by itself (I don't want to pay extra for the accessories I don't need) Very frustrating... It worked well until it didnt... perhaps not designed for moms who exclusively pump. ... show more

  • Should have started with this pump!!
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
Ok first of all let me start by saying I love this pump! Yes should have not listened to my husband and bought it a long time ago - I got the In-Style Medela via insurance as it was the only one that had the least copay.- let me do a comparison: 1) Free Style offers freedom to move! Small and compact! and I love love the In bra cups which give you freedom of movement without dropping the bottle (hate the bottle design, I’m pretty sure a man designed that system because they thought it’s ok for a woman to look like a milking cow!!). I was tethered to one place with the In Style as it was bulky and the battery charger would easily split off if you move around (even if you had contained everything in a carryon bag)! With this Free Style pump, you can move around as much as you like and it won’t shut off cz guess what, the rechargeable battery is in the pump!! Not sure why they couldn’t also do that in the In Style given how bulky it is. 2) Free Style is so easy to use with clear buttons and an LCD screen! Click the on button and voila the screen lights up and you press on play. Even in the middle of the night I know exactly what up press and where I am in the pump Cycle. With the In Style I used to get confused what to press to switch from expression to let down and often restarted with the off/on button which is frustrating as it means the pump should stop at 30min and I would be restarting the pump cycle every so often. 3) the Free style is quieter than the In Style - feels like I don’t even hear it when I am walking around. The In Style has an industrial sound like a small excavator which is annoying!! 4) love that half way though the Free Style gives you a small celebratory beep at 15 min, lifts my spirits that I’m half way done (it stops at 30 min) 5) the suction is amazing with the Free Style, I was able to get an extra 20% compared to the In Style. 6) the I’m Style had a short tube that has a triangular shape fitting into the pump…does not split if you live around given it’s stable as opposed to the long and unstable tubes for the in Style that kept on getting stuck everywhere (on kitchen cabinet handles, corners of tables) and would rather split off and I would lose suction of pull my bottles and I would lose milk And and a mini break down 7) the Free Style should replace the In Style or have the product manager of I’m Style get inspired by the design and upgrade the In Style - does not make sense to have a pump without a screen or lights or rechargeable batteries contained in the pump ... show more

  • Not worth the headache or the money
Style: Freestyle Hands-free
I have been using this pump for about three months now. The first two months it worked ok even though every few days I would run into some kind of issue with something not being perfectly aligned and I would not get any milk. I would have to stop and readjust but it would start working so even though it was irritating and inconvenient I was willing to live with it. A month ago I started losing suction at least once a day. I would spend the entire 20 minutes that I normally pump readjusting everything trying to get it to work. Often I would end up having to hold the tubing into where it meets the collection cups the entire time in order to maintain suction. I contacted Medela multiple times and tried using new tubing and new collection cups but am still having issues. One time they implied that the reason I was having issues was because I use a sterilizer instead of boiling the parts or putting them in a sterilizer bag since the parts have not been “tested” in a sterilizer. They did send me new parts and a new pump for free but do not offer any refunds. I even tried using the collection cups with my Pump in Style pump using the included adapter tubing and even though it worked better it was still inconsistent. I just ordered the MomCozy pump and hope that that will work better but I am frustrated that I spent so much time and money on a pump and had so many issues. Pros: -Similar milk output as with my Pump in Style pump -Does not leak while pumping -Only three parts to clean Cons: -Very inconsistent -Not discrete -Loud -The pump is attached to a lanyard which is impractical. I modified it so I could at least wear it around my neck but the buttons are very sensitive and as it inevitably swung around one of the buttons would get pressed. -Expensive -Apparently it is not supposed to be put in a sterilizer -Leaks when pouring ... show more
