Bought two of these stools for our apartment, ended up with four. Long story. Pluses: they look really nice and are reasonably comfortable. SOlid enough build for what you pay for them (with a few cavetas). Assembly was simple enough, but be careful how you install the crossbars. They don't really specify this in the instructions but If you put them in with the cutouts facing to the side, the screws will end up busting through the side of the leg a) damaging it and b) poking you in the hand. This will also result in the crossbars eventually wiggling loose from the legs and the stool will get wobbly and break underneath you. So instead, install the crossbars with the cutouts facing the floor; this puts the screw through the thickest part of the leg and makes sure that everything is nice and tight. Also, this should go without saying but don't put too much (any) weight on the crossbars. They are SUPER brittle and snap really easily. For what it's worth Nathan Lane customer service is amazing, when my crossbar snapped they sent me a whole new stool free of charge (because you can't replace just the crossbar I guess). Overall pretty decent little stool for your breakfast nook or whatever. Good value for dollar, easy to put together. Just be gentle with it, this isn't like the rolls royce of furniture. ... show more

Purchased three stools, wanted simple, clean design, comfortable, and fit under counter nicely. Construction seems good, the material covered tops are new, but, seem well made. Assembly straight forward. First two stools were perfect. Third might have been made on a Friday; the holes for cross braces were in correctly drilled on one pair of legs, and the bottom of the legs didn’t have the proper protective buttons (though, there were additional ones provided). Contacted Customer support, worked with Leyla, very polite, good customer service skills - She could not send me a replacement leg piece, so she sent me a whole new stool. She followed up to make sure that my replacement order was acknowledged, and then followed up that the replacement stool was delivered. There was nothing I didn't like about these stools. They fit perfectly under my table, so they store out of the way and don't take up any extra space. They look great, i.e. they don't look cheap; they appear well made and are comfortble.

Only one of them came with some manufacturer issues, but we were able to get that stool replaced from Nathan James at no cost to us! It was hassle-free and very quick! I love the look and feel of these stools—the swivel is very smooth and the look is very contemporary. The stools themselves seem pretty sturdy thus far. Incredibly sturdy stool. Overall, was fairly easy to make except there were a few holes that didn't line up well. I ended up making it work but only to find out at the end that the stool had problems in the feet. I called Nathan James CS and they were graciously able to handle it. They even sent me chocolate after all of it to apologize and thank me. I couldn't be more pleased with the service and the stools. I will note one of the stools I got had a weird plasticky and cheap feel/sound for the filling of the seat piece. I wonder if they had overfilled with some cheap material compared to the other stool I have from them. ... show more

I really like how these stools look and they worked well for about 5 months. I got two of these stools and both broke in some way after normal use - a foot bar snapped on one of them and a whole leg broke off of the other just from someone sitting down on it.
