  • perfect fit
Style: Modular
Item was exactly as described. Easy assembly and installation. MUCH lighter than a regular steel rack. Looks great. Tons of tie down points. Doesn't interfere with sun roof functioning. Only downside, cross members will bow a little when fully loaded. Probably due to it being aluminum.

  • Exactly what we were looking for.
Style: Modular
Needed a roof rack to haul some extra stuff on a cross country road trip from WA to IL and back this August. It's not the biggest or sexiest rack for the 4Runner but it still has a lot of space and is about as low profile as you can get which I really appreciate. Assembling the rack itself was straight forward. Attaching it to the roof rails was made much easier with a 2nd person to make sure it's lined up properly. I used this opportunity to fully remove the roof rails and plastidip them so I could have a smooth black look. We aligned the front of the rack along the slope of the roof rails (which the instructions do not recommend) and we have not observed any extra wind noise but we usually have the rear window cracked for the dogs or the moon roof tilted so ymmv. ... show more

  • Almost 5 stars
Style: Modular
Great rack but as others have said instructions are a little confusing. I skipped the first step which is to remove the back rack covers. Instead, assemble the rack and then do all the disassembly on the 4runner rails. Tools: 5-80 ft. lbs. Torque wrench Auto trim removal kit Metric Allen wrench set I would have given 5 stars but they didn't send 8M flange nuts. I had to make a run to the hardware store to get them. The rack does look amazing on my 2011 Limited 4runner. ... show more

  • Great Rack... confusing instructions.
Style: Modular
Overall I really like this Cargo Rack. The reason for the 3 stars on the installation is because the instructions are goofy. The first thing they tell you to do is remove the OEM covers from the back of your roof rails. Yea, like everyone knows how to do that. You will need a panel tool remover if you don’t want to mess them up. Check out U-Tube for how to. Order the panel tool with your rack so you don’t have to wait around like I did. Next, since removing the OEM covers from the side rails is step one, I assumed when they refer to side rails in their instructions this is what they are referring to..... WRONG! Removing the OEM isn’t even important until the very end. I spent like 30 minutes cussing and swearing because the cross bars are too short to span between your side rails. What you have to do is completely assemble the Cargo Rack on the floor of your garage first. Make sure you place the cross bars in order #1 at the front and then sequentially to # 6 in the rear. This is important because they will receive the mounting bolts and if not in correct order you won’t be able to mount. Once completely assembled slide the mounting brackets into the SIDE RAILS of your 4-Runner. Instructions give distances of how far forward and back the mounts should be. The rack is not heavy because it’s aluminum but it is awkward. If you can get someone to help you lift it up you can avoid scratches to your paint. Place so mounting bolts go through holes in the cross cross bars then fine tune position of rack forward or back. I ended up moving mine slightly forward so the angle of the wind deflector was in line with the countour of my front Rail Cover. Tighten everything down with ratchet with a short extension. Replace your OEM Rear Covers on the 4-Runner side rails and admire! This is entirely made of aluminum so no worries about rust like the steel units. ... show more

  • Great functional roof rack, adds a stylish appearance
Style: Modular
This is a very functional and cool looking roof rack. Since this is flat metal, the carrying capacity is somewhat limited compared to tubular metal racks most often seen...but not by much. Still very functional. I've used it twice for some long trips. The crossmember support brackets are decent enough...they bowed downward just a little bit when loaded -- but still did not touch the top of the roof or rattle at all for me as some folks reported. I really like how it attaches to the stock roof rails (but you need to watch that the bolts stay tight over time). It also fits most of the weather proof cartop cargo carrier bags as well -- which is what I used to keep things spread evenly across the rack and stay dry. No issues whatsoever. It has a lot of pre-drilled holes for light mounting, which I haven't added. I use the holes as tie down points. Roof rack can easily be removed as well. I do notice a little bit of wind resistance from the front of the rack. Wish it was a slightly tighter angle for deflecting wind...but it isn't too bad once you get used to it. Overall, I'm very pleased. If you're not going for the total off-road look (which I'm not -- I wanted sort of a hybrid look) and if you want to keep the existing roof rails, this is a fantastic option. This rack will also sit a bit lower than other racks that require the cross beams to mount - which I prefer it being as low as possible. ... show more

  • better than spending 1000 bucks.
Style: Modular
Just assembled and installed looks great and very functional. Use blue loctite on bolts as a extra step. No spare bolts included. Read instructions step by step and you'll be alright. Another extra step is to tape the top of cars cargo rails so you can slide to rack up if your by yourself without leaving scratches. A towel on hood is a must. A plus is that it's easily removable, and leave mounts snug and in place. Light mount holes drilled front and back. ... show more

  • Do Not Purchase
Style: Modular
All the pieces for assembly were not available. Additionally the rack was flimsy.

  • Disappointed.
Style: Modular
Ordered this for my son for Christmas to put on his brand new Forerunner. Pretty disappointing on Christmas day when he went to put it on his vehicle and found that the hardware was not included with the rack. According to other reviews, it appears this is not the first instance of someone in packing not making sure all the parts are included. Very poor quality control. ... show more
