  • I drank the Kool-Aid . . . I mean the water
When researching under-counter water filters, I read that Multipure had a cult following. Not a small following. Rather, a following of incredibly devoted (and occasionally rabid) customers. (I raised my eyebrow in skepticism.) The Aquaversa specifications indicated that the this model is adequate for the water where I live. Although users observed that the flow of filtered water is a bit slow and that the water meter is not standard with the Aquaversa, the rave reviews from cult members . . . I mean customers in areas with comparable city water were much stronger for this product than for similar filters. I decided to take the plunge. After hearing a few tales of improperly installed filters causing flooding, I sprang for a plumber to put the product in place. He suggested getting a faucet with a pull-down sprayer. This way the fountain could be be installed in the existing hole that had previously been used for the old-style sprayer. It also meant that he did not have to drill a hole through the sink and risk damaging it. The plan has the added bonus of looking better, too. The Aquaversa (along with the nifty, new faucet) was installed quickly and without a hitch. The filter takes up little room under the sink and removes easily from the bracket so that the filter can be replaced. We had been using a Drop filter, and it did a decent job of getting the chemical taste out of the city water. I plan on using it when I travel. There is no comparison between to the old and new water filters. The Drop water was a huge improvement over tap water, but it tastes like something from the Bog of Eternal Stench in comparison to the the water from the new filter. (Terms I would now use to describe the tap water cannot be used in polite company.) The Aquaversa is exponentially better. (As one would hope for the price.) The water is amazingly refreshing. I caught one child drinking directly from the fountain because it was so good. (Please bear in mind that this is a child who had previously refused to drink the water here because of the taste.) We use this water for everything we consume: drinking water, coffee, boiling pasta, etc. Everything tastes more like what it is supposed to taste like with the Aquaversa water. (My eyebrow has returned to it properly stowed position.) This is what water tastes like in my dreams. I drank the Kool-Aid . . . I mean the water. Come to the MultiPure side, we have water that will make your toes curl. (OK, that is a little strong. But it is REALLY GOOD WATER!) Hopefully newer models will have better water flow, and include a water meter as standard equipment. Even with those qualifications, I still have to give the Aquaversa 5 stars. ... show more

  • Excellent Drinking Water Filter
Order placed on Dec.13/13 and delivered on Dec.20/13 This is an excellent water filter because aside from easy installation the water has become a great tasting water. In the first few days it tasted not bad but not as good and smooth as the reverse osmosis water we fetch at the grocery store. Maybe we were not yet used to the change, but now I would say my family has no complaint at all and we are happy with this purchase. We do not have to take the hassle running out of drinking water and hurrying to the stores to fetch those heavy 18.9 liters water bottles ($3 each refill). In just two years of not buying water from stores you will recover the filter system cost of $442. The Aquaversa chrome faucet adds a beauty to our granite countertop and you can turn it any direction you want. The flow is good; we live in Canada so we always get cold water from it, the stainless filter housing helps absorb cold temperature. Before we got this filter we used tap water in making coffee/tea, juices, soup, cooking rice, washing fruits and vegetables and thereby absorb lots of chlorine, but now, not only we have excellent drinking water but also extra clean water for preparing those beverages and foods. Before you buy other filters such as those with reverse osmosis features maybe it's a good idea to Google first the benefits and bad effects of reverse osmosis and then go for what you think is best for your needs. ... show more

  • Works well once installed.
Unit is a bit difficult to install, had to create space under sink for the filter mounting. Once in it works well but does not clamp solidly to stainless sink.

  • Drinking Water No Longer Smells Like A Swimming Pool!
Have you ever drunk water that smelled like it came directly from the swimming pool? We have. My wife couldn't stomach it and would get her water from the refrig (which runs thru a basic refrigerator filter). I would just hold my breath and swallow the county's heavily chlorinated tap water (we live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida)...horrible, horrible, smell and taste. I can certainly empathize with the locals that buy bottled water but I can't appreciated the waste impact on the environment, so I chose the Multipure MP750SB over plastic landfills (first read about the MP750SB in Consumer Reports magazine). I installed the unit on March 30th and immediately the chlorine smell was gone and the water taste was palatable. The MP750SB definitely works as advertised and for that reason is worth every penny (we are big water drinkers). I do have two cautionary comments about the unit for you info: One - The bottom of the filter housing is rounded. According to the company, they no longer make the flat bottom housing. So you'll need to prop-up/balance the unit in a cabinet corner (like I did) or install the mounting hook to the cabinet wall and hang the unit from it. My under-sink cabinet rear wall is about two grades above cardboard (in quality). In my opinion the wall will not sustain the mounting hook screws, especially when the heavy water filled MP750SB is attached. In lieu of improvising a secure wall mounting place for the unit, I chose the lazy way out...balance it in the back corner. It's been working fine so far. Two - The installation manual that came with my unit was for the previous model (flat bottom), that apparently had different parts unattached. In this updated model, parts referenced in the manual have now been permanently attached to the filter housing. So if you think a part is missing, just check the unit housing...it may already be attached. These two observations are in NO way a show stopper. Based on the performance of this unit to date, I highly recommend it for improving the taste quality of public utility drinking water. ... show more
