The top and bottom of the Pivot Disc is covered with a non-slip material that keeps the disc in place during the transfer. Made of three polymer plastic plates and comes with a built-in handle for ease of placement and transport. Weight capacity 400 pounds.     • Unsafe, ineffective
I purchased a different pivot disc from a medical supply store locally that was quite a bit more expensive but works much better. This one stated it was going to be sent about 2 weeks later which I didn't notice when I ordered it which was not acceptable so I found an alternative at the local medical supply store. I attempted to cancel this order, and then surprisingly, they suddenly shipped it within 1 hour of me trying to cancel it... This one does not turn as well, and the bottom is basically the cutout from the top stuck to the bottom - not effective at all and cheaply made. It slid across the floor - very dangerous plus my husband stepped down to catch himself and he is supposed to be totally non-weight bearing - this could have a long term impact on recovery - we will see when we go back to the surgeon. Additionally it is plastic the quality is not very good, and I believe this impacts the turning ability. I ordered a third pivot disc which is the black one on the amazon site. It is actually cheaper than this one, but looks like the one I paid $200 for at the medical supply store. We need a 3rd one and the medical supply store only had one so I need an alternative. Then I can leave one by the bed, chair, and toilet to ensure it is available when and where needed. If I needed it long term, I would definitely return this one, but I put it by the bed on the carpeting so it doesn't slip (slid across the bathroom floor), and although it is hard to turn (I think because it bends and the plastic isn't as effective in turning), it will work ok short term since I can help at night turning him manually on the disc. The expensive one doesn't "spin" so it is safe, but it turns when you hold onto a bar or walker so you can turn. It is 1000% better than this one. That one is the best money I spent since the surgery. Hopefully the black one works better than this one did. I would definitely NOT recommend this from a safety perspective mostly, and to a lesser extent, from an ease of use perspective. Our OT and PT were very surprised when they saw how ineffective and unsafe it was. They recommended not using except by the bed if necessary since I will always be available to assist with that transfer. ... show more

I’m sure the product is ok but it showed up in an empty package with very little tape to secure it. The company was difficult to work with in rectifying the problem which they never did. Amazon made things right. Thank you.

After we received this, we earned that it cannot be returned. We ordered it for my 96 year old mother. She could not use it. Now we are struck with it. We didn’t even open it. Wish we could have returned it.
