The MPG A850GS provides enough power for the 9800X30 and RX9070 XT build that I have, with some room to grow. Overall I really like the size of the power supply it's been a while since I have purchased a PC power supply and was kind of surprised by how compact the unit is. It's fully modular and provides more than enough cables for nearly any build. The unit is quiet even with the fan on, it also offers a silent operation mode if you need that. So far I do not detect any type of coil whine or anything that would impede it's operation. I am extremely happy with how this unit performs and functions.     • Decent PSU, gets the jobs done, but there is a slight coil whine

The media could not be loaded. I bought this PSU to replace an older FSP second handed PSU that started showing signs of deterioration of voltage regulation. This PSU's voltage regulation is much better than that on the FSP, and the voltage hardly sags with light to moderate load. The PSU's fan is very quiet, and it is literally inaudible even with the 0 RPM fan mode turned off. However, one thing that I noticed is the coil whine. There are 3 clips in the video. The 1st one is click sound the moment when the PC turns on. The click happens before the relay clicks, which has a few seconds delay. I assume this is caused by inrush current charging the big capacitor. I didn't notice this sound on my old FSP PSU. The 2nd clip is coil whine when I turn on the PSU with nothing attached. This whine is quite loud and can be heard distances away. The 3rd clip is a slight ticking noise when PC is idle. This noise isn't loud and can only be heard if I put my ear right next to the PSU. Not sure if any of these noises are normal, but the PSU has been working with no issues since I installed it. ... show more

I’ve been using this to power a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 4070 ti. I haven’t experienced any coil whine or stability issues. It’s efficient, quiet, and makes the build look much cleaner. It uses 105°C Japanese capacitors is a plus. Highly recommended if you’re doing a new build in 2024 or 2025.
