Phenomenal CPU and very easy to cool. I came from a 5700X, which I owned for over 4 years, and the performance uplift I got was literally night and day. I will probably keep this CPU for over 5 years, and I know it will serve me well.

For the off chance someone that plays games along the lines of Beam Ng.Drive, or Cities Skylines 2, or any other cpu demanding games. I will say, this is definitely worth the upgrade. Pc specs: Rx9060xt 16Gb, MB. x870E.., 2tb nvme, 32Gb ram 6000 Have found that with my set up, in cpu demanding games, the 9800x3d has paired really well with my gpu, the response time of both the cpu and gpu have been with in 6-8ms at most times.

I have been tempted to upgrade from my 7800x3d since the release of the 9800x3d but held back. I have looked at reviews and also feedbacks from people who made the upgrade and they all were pretty mixed, a lot of people say it isn't worth it. Well I made the plunge today and bought the 9800x3d to replace my 7800x3d. I am getting this out of the way in terms of gaming: average fps won't be much of a difference from the 7800x3d since I play at high ultrawide 3840x1600 resolution. But, I did run some benchmarks before and after and saw a bit better performance on average and a good lift in the 1%/0.1% lows which improved game play smoothness. The best thing about the 9800x3d is the performance and thermals after undervolting it. This is a must. It is only a few clicks in bios in the PBO settings. Anybody can do it and should do it. Better temps, lower power usage, and more performance for free! Google it. My 7800x3d was also undervolted but it didn't make a big difference like the 9800x3d. This 9800x3d undervolted has improved efficiency and massively improved thermals. High 40 degrees C in gaming and low 60s degree C stress test. My undervolted 7800x3d was in the high 50 - 60s C gaming and high 70s- 80 C stress test. Same 360mm Arctic AIO cooler/setup. Much cooler and just as efficient as my undervolted 7800x3d. Even if it isn't much of an improvement in average FPS at high resolution gaming...the temps and efficiency as well as the improvement in single and multithread scores makes the upgrade worth it. An issue that I had with the 7800x3d and also my previous AM4 CPUs is that the CPU would spike up in temps when I do something like opening a software or watching a youtube video. The CPU fans would spin up which can be annoying, but the 9800x3d solved that. No more spiking temps so my CPU fans stay constant while doing casual things. I highly recommend this if you have a 7800x3d and is on the fence. I had to try it for myself because the mixed advice from people online about whether or not the 9800x3d would be an upgrade from the 7800x3d was driving me nuts. To me it was worth the upgrade and I should have done it sooner...but hey at least I saved $80 off MSRP for waiting too long.

I've had this CPU for a little over a year, and I have loved every second of it! It runs everything I need to run, and even performs perfectly when streaming to Twitch/YouTube. Temps always run cool with an NZXT Kraken. Never had any issues with this bad boy so far. Only thing I can see myself upgrading to in the future is a 9950X3D if I ever decide to stream more consistently. Paired with a 9070XT, I run pretty much everything at 240FPS on 1440P. I do mostly play FPS/TacFPS/MOBAs which are not typically intensive, but regardless, I'm beyond happy with this purchase!

Delivery was flawless, I feel lucky in that regard as I’ve heard some horror stories. Happy with my new set up, definitely overkill for my RTX 5070 OC but that was the point .. bought the 7600x3D then felt like I missed out and cancelled it for the 7800x3D and then felt like why not spend the extra $87 for the 9800x3D due to when I actually watched videos that “5%” increase they speak of actually seemed to be substantially larger at times and i wanted to go top of the line ( no one needs the 9850x3D unless you’re rocking the RTX 5090 )

I upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for my broadcast setup, and it is absolutely top of the line. The 8 Core 16 Thread architecture paired with the massive 96MB of L3 cache completely eliminates any stuttering or frame drops when I am live. It effortlessly handles running my GoXLR audio routing, Facecam software, and heavy games like Arc Raiders and Fortnite all at the exact same time without breaking a sweat. It keeps my frame rates incredibly high, making competitive gameplay on my Xbox Black Series controller feel smoother than ever.
