The MOTOPOWER MP69040 Car OBD2 Scanner works great and does not require a cell phone like my other OBD scanner did. The displace is easy to read and navigate. The display was bright enough to see in daylight. The instructions are written clearly. Updating was easy. The connector core is long enough to operate comfortably. Please note, I have not yet tried the printing function so I cannot comment on it. Overall, I think that this will be my "go to" OBD scanner.

The technology separation between the expensive professional OBD readers and the consumer level units like this one is getting smaller all the time. This Motopower unit offers most everything that the DIY car guy or gal will need. It's fast and responsive. The interface is pretty intuitive, meaning that I can find my way around the menus and icons without constantly having to reach for the user manual. For me, live data viewing and graphing capabilities are important, so this one fits the bill in that respect. I have only seen one software issue that bothered me. When clearing DTC codes, it reports a failure because it can't clear "permanent" codes (if they exist). It does clear the codes that it should be able to clear, so it shouldn't report an error in this case. Once you understand the issue, it isn't a problem... it's just software that needs to be corrected. Overall, I do like this meter, and of the 4 that I own, I believe it's my favorite. 4 stars.

Even for a novice mechanic, this scanner/diagnostic tool is easy to use. You only have to turn it on and follow the prompts. It is a good device to have around to when problems arise with your car, helping you decide whether it's something you can fix or if a mechanic is needed. Its functions include check engine, testing battery voltage, help with turn off engine light, O2 sensor test, and code read/clear functions. My mechanic friend works on heavy equipment and has a far more expensive tool like this at their shop. I showed them this one & they were very impressed with the functionality and especially the cost.

This is one of the higher end ones I’ve used in my life and so far it’s my go to. The screen is nice and clear and bright, easy to read too. Works perfectly and even will tell you when you can update it (it does need to be plugged into a computer to update however). Nice size to carry around or take with and again easy to use!

This is one of the most handy products to have as an adult. One of those things that you know you're old because you got excited about getting this haha We grabbed this since our old truck (2004 Ford F-150) continues popping the check engine light up and it was getting exhausting stopping by the local car parts store to have them scan every time. Then last week our 2017 Dodge Journey had the Check Engine light appear out of nowhere. This was very easy to plug in to scan what code was popping and figure out what was wrong! Easy to store in your garage or car in case you need it while out.

I got this because I’m in the market for a used car and figured it would be good to have throughout the life expectancy of the car for any issues that may arrive. I am no mechanic! However, idk if it was reading the cars correctly. I will check my old car and update if need be. Still good to have.
