  • BETTER than Autel 319 & VEEPEAK !
Color: Yellow
Love my 2017 FIAT 124 Spider since buying it new Summer 2016. Every year or so, the check engine light comes on. First time it happened, I checked the gas cap (no problem) and then spent several HOURS at local FIAT dealership where they could not find ANY problem with the car and simply erased the code. Next time it appeared, I purchased this Motopower OBD2 device which erased the code and made engine icon disappear in seconds. Several years went by so I sold the Motopower on Ebay. Last week, check engine appeared again. I couldn't remember what device I used to erase the code so I first started with the "highly touted" VEEPEAK. It failed to erase the code. Then I purchased Autel 319 on Amazon. It also failed. Looking for another one to try, the Motopower started looking familiar. Amazon delivered it today and I quickly plugged it in. YEAH! Check engine icon is gone! BOTTOM LINE: You can waste your money and time trying others (like I did) but I will not be selling my new Motopower anytime soon. SMOG TEST NOTE: If you erase the code(s) and then go for a Smog Check for tag renewal BEFORE logging some miles around town, your vehicle may not pass the test. I made that mistake. Guy at the smog test asked if i had installed a new battery recently which was also true. Google search suggested doing a slow acceleration to 55mph and drive for at least 5 minutes at that speed so FIAT system can complete all it's tests. Google also said to start the engine and just sit and let it idle for 2 minutes. Did both those things, went back for Smog Test and this time I passed! ... show more

  • Great unit, limited functionality
Color: Yellow
This is a great price for a basic OBD2 scanner. It did not, however, fully meet my need - but that's at least partly my fault. Our 2012 Kia Soul's ESC (stability/traction) light has been on for months. Research indicated this is one of three things: faulty ABS/brake sensor, bad brake pedal sensor, or bad clutch pedal sensor. Rather than paying Kia (or my mechanic) to diagnose which one was the problem, I got this scanner. And that's when I learned that Kia's ESC system is actually *not* under the umbrella of OBD2. The scanner showed no faults or codes - because, well, the ESC system isn't one of the things this can scan. So, no way to reset the ESC light or find out which of the three sensors is bad. Now I'm off to borrow a friend's diagnostic computer. ... show more

  • Quite handy to have around. Every car owner should have one of these.
Color: Yellow
I've had this engine light on my 2012 F150 that's been bothering me for awhile. Normally, I'd take it to the dealership and have them check it out but lately, they've been really trying to stick to it people with overcharging for services/repairs. I got this code reader to mitigate some of that hopefully. I bought this solely for interpreting the codes and, in that respect, this thing works great. I got the code in a few seconds and it was related to my O2 sensor. Pretty common but really nice to know this ahead of time. Who knows, the dealership probably would've come up with some story about it being an engine problem or something. That said, I got the parts I needed to replace and installed myself. Cleared the codes and checked again...no more check engine light. Probably saved myself $400-$500 easily from going to the dealership to have this work done. This being so inexpensive, I think every car owner should have one of these just to check and keep the repair guys honest. ... show more

  • Pays for itself in a single use
Color: Yellow
For the price you can't beat this little device. It showed me the code (which I already knew from a visit to an auto parts store a few days ago). But I was also able to clear the code (which not all auto parts stores will do) to see if the change I made will fix the issue. If the light comes back on, I can conveniently scan it myself, see what's happening, and possibly save a trip to the dealer depending on the results. ... show more

  • Great value!
Color: Yellow
Great little scanner for only $20 on Amazon; appears to be of good "build" quality & seems to work just fine (even though I had no stored codes & if I did it will always display the code & explain exactly what it is). Takes about 45 seconds to use & definitely saved a trip to any of the numerous local (nationwide) auto parts stores that will normally check your car for codes (free of charge) or a mechanic or dealership (yuck) that WILL charge you to check. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Operator Error One Star Reviews
Color: Yellow
How can you beat $20??? I took a $20 gamble after contemplating the negative reviews only to realize some of those reviews are operator error or sheer ignorance! One review complained about being unable to locate where the batteries go 🙄… It doesn’t use batteries! Another complained the device “Failed to Connect”, which will happen if you don’t have the ignition turned on 🤔. The device I received powered on and displayed a misfire code which it easily erased! Replaced the spark plug and I was good to go… Best $20 I’ve ever spent!!! Don’t believe all the negative reviews! ... show more

  • Works
Color: Yellow
For the price it does what it should, its easy to use and faster than driving to the local auto shop store to have them read you the code. Not bad for non professional just to let you know what the engine light says and clear the light.
