Thus is a pretty good tester for the money. It's pretty straightforward and seems pretty accurate. My car started cranking slow in the cold weather, my battery tested poor. I replaced the battery, trickle charged the old one, and tested it again and it still tested poor. Good enough tester for me.

Battery no good, or just drained overnight by a short, or failed charging system? This machine will give you an accurate rating of the actual state of health of your car battery, AND charging system in separate tests. And with the cost of batteries and alternators these days, nobody wants to be "guessing" and replacing something that does not fix their real problem. This simple, hand held device gives peace of mind and helps take any guesswork out of the equation.

Great deal. Works fantastic. Has the ability to test the battery, starter, and alternator, as well as watch the alternators charging signal in real time. You can also save up to 10 reports (screenshots) that you can later print out, but you will need a PC or laptop that you can plug this tester into. It has an onboard USB-C port dedicated for printing and firmware updates.

So small I lost it for a month. High quality. Needs to be connected to battery to turn on. Display and buttons are easy to figure out. Tested 4 batteries and SOH was great info to have. This troubleshot a weird engine, abs, trac, light problem after starting the engine. I suspected my battery had a low SOH. I was right. This device justified replacing a $240 agm battery which solved the issue 4 months ago now.

MOTOPOWER MP0515A 12V Car Battery Charge Tester and Alternator Analyzer. Great tool to have, easy to use, very accurate and the save images and print feature are a real bonus to have. As a previous poster noted about Costco batteries and this tester being wrong, the batteries may be bad, I have gone through 2 Costco batteries, this tester reported the SOH at 33% and sure enough the batteries failed requiring jump starts, all within 2 years of warranty. FYI, if you want to know if the battery or alternator is bad, use the wave function, if you see ripples in the waveform and the battery health is low, replace battery and test again, If the test with the new battery is clean then the old battery has bad / shorted cells. If you still see ripples, then further tests are needed for the alternator. Would recommend this product, Great tester, Good seller. Updated 10/30/2024

Having 5+ cars, a couple motorcycles, 2 electric scooters, and a literal pile of SLA/gel cell batteries I use in various other things I needed a battery tester that can test from little 7ah gel cells to 1000 CCA big batteries. And this one does exactly that. It will test from 100 CCA to 2000 CCA. You can also test for AH(amp hour) from 10AH to 250AH. This is super useful for the little gel cell batteries used in UPS, alarm systems, garage door openers, gate openers, automatic feeders, etc. As that's how these batteries are rated, not in CCA. All the other test like alternator and cranking voltage drop are just the icing on the cake. As far as accuracy, it seems to be spot on testing new batteries. It's VERY close to the new battery ratings. It's no laboratory grade tester, but it's absolutely "good enough" for home use. Even good enough to use in a professional setting like an automotive shop for a quick assessment. The alligator clips are very high quality, along with the cables. Some name brands could learn from this one in that department. Overall I'm very satisfied with this little battery tester. If you're on the fence and can't decide which battery tester to get...just get this one. You will not be disappointed. The only thing I can think of that would make it better is a little carrying case. That's about it.
