I had the opportunity to try out this Montavue 2K 4MP Turret PoE Security Camera and provide my thoughts and opinions of it. Overall, I’m very happy with it. This Montavue 2k Turret Style Camera features full color night vision capabilities as well as the ability to differentiate between human and vehicle with its smart detection features. In addition, it has a built in microphone and is capable of utilizing up to a 256GB Micro SD Card. This Montavue camera is very well made, being constructed with an all metal housing. It’s also easy to install by simply screwing the base onto the surface you plan to install it in. This is a stationary camera and has no PTZ functionality, so it must be manually positioned. Luckily, that task is very simple. There’s a set screw in the top portion of the mounting base. You simply back that set screw out, swivel the camera to face where you need it to, then retighten the single set screw back up. The setup process was relatively easy and I had no problems during setup and initialization. After I had it setup I was pleasantly happy with the video quality. The footage is crisp and clear and looks great day or night. I haven’t really been about to test out all of the smart detection features to see how well they perform since I have it installed in a spot opposite of the road, but it does adequately detect humans. Overall, I feel this Montavue 2K 4MP Turret style PoE cameraI is a good choice for the cost. The resolution is great and the features and functions in my limited testing performed well. This was a quick and easy install. Had some sketchy happenings in the neighborhood and wanted some added security. This was easy to set up and has been working great for us for the last 7 or 8 months

I ordered this Montavue 2K 4MP camera to add to my existing NVR (Network Video Recorder) based system that uses IP (Internet Protocol) cameras with POE (Power Over Ethernet). I like the build quality of this camera and its compatibility with my Lorex NVR. The Montavue cameras are sourced from Dahua, which owns Lorex and Amcrest, so their products have a lot in common with Amcrest cameras and work seamlessly with my Lorex NVR. I was impressed with the crisp clarity of the 2K, 4MP image. I like the turret design which creates a sturdy, compact mounting structure that allows easy adjusting to aim the camera right where you need it. This is not a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera. It is a fixed mount camera that you manually aim, then you tighten the turret screw to keep it locked in place. The people and vehicle detection works correctly with my system. I recently purchased the Montavue UltraHD 4K 8MP Turret Security PoE Camera, and while it was relatively easy to install, I'm disappointed with its picture quality. Despite being marketed as a high-definition camera, the image quality is not as crisp and clear as I expected, especially considering its 4K resolution. Details are often blurry, and the colors appear washed out, making it difficult to identify objects or people accurately. Installation was straightforward, thanks to the Power over Ethernet (PoE) setup, which simplified the wiring process. The camera's design is also user-friendly, with adjustable angles and a sturdy build that feels durable and well-made. However, these positive attributes are overshadowed by the subpar picture quality. Additionally, the camera's performance in low-light conditions is disappointing. The night vision feature produces grainy and distorted footage, which diminishes its effectiveness as a security tool during nighttime hours. This is a significant drawback, as reliable night vision is crucial for a security camera's functionality. Overall, while the Montavue UltraHD 4K 8MP Turret Security PoE Camera is easy to install and has a user-friendly design, its picture quality leaves much to be desired.
