I wanted these little pans to make vegetarian Appalachian corn bread using butter for the vegetarians in the family, while using bacon fat in the big pan. They did a great job, the little corn breads cooked up in five minutes and came out fabulous. I think the little ones actually came out better than the big one! The pans are also adorable. Each one held a half a ladle of batter, about half a cup. I saw that someone else in the reviews mentioned needing to sand his down because the iron was flaking into his food. I didn’t have any issues with any black flecks coming off the pans! They say they’re preseasoned, but I also re-seasoned them on arrival. I brushed them inside and out with avocado oil and put them in a 325 oven on a cookie sheet for an hour. Worked great. ... show more

I took a chance on making individual servings for my pineapple upside down cake and it turned out great! No sticking at all, I used the crushed pineapple instead of rings. I wished I had taken a picture, they went fast.

    • These are smaller than you think
I was excited by ordering these, but when they came in, I realized these are very small. I thought I had purchased the same size as the one I currently own, but these are half the size. The picture showing how small they are in the hand makes them look big because they got a really small hand holding them. They have good heat distribution, they work OK, but if you’re buying them to make cookies, they’re gonna be small cookies. ... show more

This is a perfect little pan to melt your butter when you only need a few tablespoons. It is also perfect for basting your steaks/ ribs. I also use it to melt coconut oil since I don't like using the microwave. The cleaning is easy treat is the same as you would a normal size cast iron. Wash it and season it as normal. The cast iron mini skillet is is pretty good deal. I got it as a Amazon warehouse renewed. Some positives: great value for about $11 dollars renewed. Some negatives: without sanding and grinding them smooth to a get a more finished product it leaves black specks, iron sand specks, in the egg, thought it was a first time thing but seems to always do that, prob will go away, after many uses but the finish is very rough think about 40 grit sandpaper, tears up the napkin that I normally use to clean the oil/butter off so I thought I’d finish the surface to get a slightly smoother finish, the first shot I just roughly sanded it down to knock off most of the specks and have a more smoother surface, still leaves black specks, 2nd one I smoothed even more smoother and this one doesn’t leave any black specks. Does take about an hr to get it down to that level so you need some time to get it smooth and re seasoned. Overall I’m pretty happy with the product , oh the silicon holder doesn’t do enough to shield from the heat, probably too thin, so it’s not effective as a heat shield ... show more
