Description

The Presto® induction compatible pressure canner is the only full-sized consumer pressure canner that works on an induction range. Its extra-large 23-quart size is designed for easy, confident pressure canning—the only method recommended safe by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for canning vegetables, meats, poultry, and seafood. It doubles as a boiling water canner for preserving fruits, jams, jellies, pickles, and salsa in half-pint, pint, and quart jars. Canner is constructed of heavy-gauge aluminum with an induction compatible stainless steel-clad base for fast, even heating. It works on gas, electric, smooth-top, and induction ranges. The deluxe pressure gauge registers precise processing pressures, which are especially important in high altitude areas. The special air vent/cover lock allows pressure to build only when the cover is closed properly and prevents the cover from being opened until pressure is safely reduced.     • Nice Pressure Canner
We did a *lot* of research on pressure canners before purchasing this one. Most reviews (at least more than with others) seemed very positive for this one, so after a few weeks of reading and researching we took the bait & ordered. We are not disappointed. This pressure canner performs very well on our gas range. We like the added plate on the bottom of this cooker/canner a lot. We are able to pressure can or water bath about 5 quarts in one layer & 7 pints in a single layer inside. The safety features are really nice as well. Directions are clear & easy to read Cleanup was a bit challenging, as we took the advice in the instructions to add a small amount of vinegar to the boiling water to prevent calcification on the inside... which didn't work for us (so proceed with caution there). Not a big deal since it's on the inside and doesn't affect overall performance. We like that this is dual purposed as both a pressure canner & can also be used as a water bath canner- saves us a LOT of storage space not needing separate tools for the job. Very sturdy and easy to use. I was a little nervous but I got it on the first try. Heating is easy and perfect to keep pressure. YouTube has videos on using it if you need help. You want the rocker to keep a soft ricking rhythm but not be going too fast.

    • Induction compatible!
After going from an electric to an induction stovetop (LOVE IT), my old canner had to be retired for a canner that was induction compatible. This Presto 23 quart was the only induction compatible canner I could find. It worked perfectly on my stovetop and holds 7 quart sized mason jars. I did purchase two canner plates separately because when I am canning with pints and half-pints, I can stack two levels of jars in the canner, allowing me to preserve up to twenty jars at once. I also like that the canner lid has an arrow that you match up with an arrow on the canner rim and then turn clockwise to a tight seal. My old canner was a pain to get the lid and the bottom on right. The canner comes with a pressure guage and a 15 lb pressure weight that will wobble during the canning process, letting you know that the pressure is building. It also acts as a safety and will pop off to release pressure if the canner exceeds the maximum pressure (and mine never has). With the large capacity, the safety features, the induction capability, and the ease of locking the lid tightly into place, I am really liking this product. ... show more

    • Works just fine on my glass top stove.
Everything is as is stated. The gage works well and its a nice heavy duty pressure cooker, perfect for canning. I have used it many times and have had no problems at all. I would recommend it. I use this on my glass top stove with no problems.

As expected. Great instructions. You might want to get an extra rack to be able to stack pints.

    • Metal tarnished after first use
Works as stated. Metal became tarnished after one use for canning. I have other Presto pressure cookers that are not used for canning and this never happened.

    • Reliable, easy to use and clean, big capacity
I replaced an old pressure cooker. I’m so glad I did! I had no idea how much better this one would be. It’s quite large at about 15in across, in fact you’ll want to make sure you have a kitchen burner large enough to support this thing. The pressure went to 15 psi quite quick on the induction burner I use. Be aware, the product manual specifically states it cannot be used with a propane “ turkey cooker”. It’s easy to clean including the seal. A simple elegant design, no frills but I think it will last me decades. A bit more expensive than I was hoping but after using it I think it’s a good value. ... show more
