I have only been using this Mixpresso 1-cup coffee maker for three days. It makes a great cup of coffee. I don't use the permanent filter that comes with the machine because I generally try to avoid plastics whenever possible (even though the entire machine is practically a plastic pod). Instead, I use #2 paper filters. And, I got rid of the plastic 14 oz mug that comes with the coffee maker. The machine feels fragile and cheap, but that was only my initial impression. My machine is sturdier than it looks or feels and it does not leak and it does make a fair amount of steam. The machine is easy to clean and it occupies very little space on my kitchen counter. Since I use a 10 oz coffee mug, I use 1 1/2 scoop of coffee grounds to make a bold tasting cup of coffee (I expect that an 8 oz cup might require only one full scoop of grounds). I have no regrets in purchasing this great little coffee maker. UPDATE: I have been using this little coffee maker for going on six months. I have probably made several hundred cups of coffee with it and it keeps on chugging. I have had zero problems with it. I understand that some people complain that it splashes coffee on their counter, but that should be expected if one is using a small cup. I use a 12 oz mug that is a little taller than the regular 8 oz coffee cup and I don't have any drops on the counter. In either case, the coffee maker does not make a "mess" - just some splash drops. I still use the #2 paper filters as I do like a thorough filter. Lastly, I clean the coffee maker about once ever two months by using 2:1 ratio of water to regular white vinegar. I purchased this to replace our previous single cup coffee maker. But as there are 3 of us in the house this little guy just wasn't robust enough for our needs. I do frequently dog sit, so I'll be taking this with me for when I'm the only one drinking coffee. The coffee maker is very light, but works well. It's decently fast, I didn't feel it took too long. It really is fussy with the finely ground/espresso ground coffee that my sister uses. I wouldn't recommend it for that. It's not overly loud. Definitely don't open the top right after it finishes perking, you'll get a face full of steam. The power button feels a little fragile. I do like the small size and light weight. The color was also very pretty. I got the purple one and it's nice and vivid. The travel cup is well insulated. ... show more

I read all the reviews before purchasing this coffee maker. I was not disappointed at all! As a Senior with certain medical conditions I am only allowed one cup of coffee per day so I want it to be a great one. This coffee maker is just what I was looking for. Single serve, lightweight and easy to use. Most of all the coffee is piping hot just as I like it. With an easy to fill reservoir and mesh coffee filter which is included is easy to install, use and clean. There is an on button which lights up a blue color and automatically shuts off when the coffee brewing is complete. Whether using the included tumbler or my own coffee mug, there was no leakage or splatter at all. My coffee is also very flavorful. As the pricing was low I was a little skeptical at first but I can honestly say this is the best little coffee maker I've ever had. Well worth purchasing. ... show more

OK so I was looking for a low watt coffee maker because all the Keurig‘s are like 1200 W and I live in 100 year-old house and I can’t run appliances at that wattage so I came across this one and it was a very reasonable price. This is one case where I thought I wasn’t gonna get a good coffee pot only cause it was you know on the low end price. Well coffee. pot is amazing. It makes such a great cup of coffee like no joke. I’m ordering another coffee pot and putting in my cabinet case this one ever breaks lol I don’t get it, but I can’t even tell you like this. Such a difference for me. This is a simple, basic and small coffee maker, and I love it so far after a month of use, making 2 cups a day. I’m not a coffee snob – I just like a good basic cup of ground coffee. This coffee maker does the trick. It’s also small – another thing I like. I’ve only used the included mug as a “to go” mug a couple of times, and it worked fine both times. I usually use the included mug as a carafe, and just pour from the mug into a coffee cup that I have. The cleanup is easy. As some reviews have noted, the long-term quality is still unknown, as the material is relatively thin. However, at this price point, you can’t go wrong with this little coffee maker if your coffee requirements are basic. At this point, I would definitely buy this Mixspresso again. ... show more

    • Good when it works but unreliable - doesn't always brew completely

When this little coffee maker works, it makes good coffee and nice and hot. However, frequently it doesn't complete the brewing cycle and turns off with about 4-6 oz of water left in the reservoir, even after regular cleaning/descaling. 12 oz of water in = 7-8 oz of coffee out, 14 oz water in = 8 oz of coffee out. This has been happening more often lately and we have only had it for 8 months. Very disappointing when you're expecting a full mug. I guess you get what you pay for. Very small and compact, light but not in a cheap feeling way. Easy to use and not bad to keep clean (tho admittedly, I’m basing it on the first time using it, not sure how keeping it clean in the long run will work out). Made a really good cup of coffee.
