    • Don't buy if you want it to heat your place
I think the only people who buy these are contractors or landlords who don't need to actually live in the homes these mini splits are supposed to heat. For cooling, they are great. For heating, they are awful. A few things: 1) When it's really cold (under 32) it takes them a while to start. Some of mine takes 10 minutes before it starts to heat up 2) It never reaches the heating temperature it says on the thermometer. I currently have mine set in my office to 80 degrees and I'm sitting here in a sweatshirt, scarf, and socks. Part of that is because it's high on a wall and the temp by my feet is much colder. So if you're ok with having warm ceilings but cold floors, this is for you! But even outside of that, it never ever reaches the heating temp it's set to. 3) You can put it on high air and high heat, but it will eventually stop blowing. It cycles -- and there is no way to stop it. So if you want it at 80 and full blast, it won't stay that way. No matter how you program it. For heating --- these things are the worst. ... show more
