I've had this for over a year. I use it in salt water even though it is made for fresh. I'm careful to wash it thoroughly after every trip, and I cover the foot pedal with a zippered plastic case my wife gave me that some sheets or something came in. I don't use it frequently, but I do use it winter and summer in Florida. Maybe 1-2 times per month. Easy to put on the boat & take off, easy to use, quiet. I take it off and store it in a shed when not in use. Still seems like new. It works beautifully. The price was good and it shipped quickly. The slight drawback is the cord used to pull the motor out of the water did wear through and break somehow. (Probably didn't like the saltwater). I'm handy enough that I could replace it myself, and used a sun and saltwater resistant cord, so no worries now. ... show more

I my old 45 wore out I replaced it with this 5t. I just took the old 45 shaft off leaving the bracket the 55 fit the ole 45 bracket perfect and has a lot more power!

Had trouble with the outboard engine. Had to use the trolling motor to get us back to chore. 3 grown men on top off that. But the trolling motor got us to shore.
