This fan is great looking. Modern and sleek look which is what we wanted. The motor runs smooth and quiet, the remote is easy to use and the fan was easy to install and set up. I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could since the air that comes out of the fan pretty much is directed straight down. Our old fan pushed it out a bit more. Like this sleek, modern fan that is suitable for outdoor installation (have it on the porch). The remote setup is a bit more than I needed, but it's a nice bonus. Two things not so good. First, installing is super-easy except for the controller/junction box, which has to be shoved up near the ceiling mount. It's a tight fit. The other is that the installation and instruction manual is terrible. It's better to just throw it out -- it's actually misleading. It's not bad if you just look at the various parts. Installed this in our back porch, liked the look of the brand and was the only indoor/outdoor fan we saw they had that took a light kit. This fan moves good air, and like their other fans, is very quiet. The light kit (ordered separate) puts off a lot of light. This is our third Minka fan and we have always been impressed by their quality and modern designs. The “Simple” model was one of the few we could find that had the control for reversing the direction on the remote control instead of on the fan itself, which was important because it is installed on a 12 foot high ceiling and there was no way we were going to get on a ladder to flip the switch. We did have to buy a separate 24” down rod due to the height of the ceiling. ... show more

We installed 2 of these fans outdoor in Florida last April. We are 8 miles from the coast. Both fans are badly rusted and started rusting over the summer. The warranty for the fan body is only a year of course. I would expect an outdoor fan to last longer than a little more than a year. They may advertise outdoor fan but this is not! Fan blades are cheap feeling and light plastic. Had a very difficult time weighting the blades so the fan would not wobble. The electrical wiring and receiver components within the base were so tight that it took some real finessing to get it all together. I've installed fans before and have the right tools.
