Easy assembly. Great fan. Sleek, simple, and modern. Motor is quiet, fan doesn't shake at all. I didn't use the switch because i don't have the extra wire in my wall junction box to add another switch. And i just blew in insulation to the attic, so i didn't want to try running a new wire. The solution was a wireless remote. But this fab doesn't have much room for a remote reciever. This one fits right through the middle of the fan bracket. I was a little nervous buying this product before any Amazon reviews. I scoured the internet for other reviews and several mentioned that they were disappointed with how loud the fan is. They must have installed it wrong, because the motor of this fan makes basically zero noise. The only noise is the wooooosh of the fan blades and moving air - which is expected from a fan. NOISE: Minimal LOOK: Aesthetics wise it's a beautiful modern addition to our bedroom. I should have replaced my crappy old fan long ago. INSTALL: The install of the fan itself was fairly simple. It even comes with wire screws to make the wire connections. It does come with a wall switch to control the speed. This was a little more complicated as I was replacing two three-way switches with this single switch. However, if you're replacing a simple single control switch then this is pretty straightforward. The only drawback of the switch is the depth of the box, so make sure your wall box has room to handle the depth of the switch. BOTTOM LINE: I bought a 2nd one for my guest bedroom! ... show more

    • Constant Clicking Sound - Return if You Think It's Going to Go Away

If you buy this fan and it makes a clicking sound do not listen to other comments online that tell you it needs to break in for 24 hours or longer before any odd sounds will stop. I made the mistake of ditching the box even though it was clicking because I stupidly assumed the clicking would go away after the "break in" period, but we've now had it installed for a couple of weeks and I've left it running each day hoping the "break in period" is just longer for this particular fan, but the pronounced clicking is still there. Every single time it makes a revolution it clicks and the sound appears to be coming from the motor. I'm even tempted to buy it again from a more reputable seller because it looks really great or for the moments when it doesn't click it's very nice. Anyway, buyer beware. Keep the box and return it if it clicks. ... show more

I got the fan in black and let me tell you that this is a very modern looking fan which was my primary reason for buying it. It looks really good! Installation looked pretty straight forward and easy to put together. There is no pull string switch on the fan itself. Instead, it come with a 4 speed wall switch which is sort of ugly looking and unintuitive with 1 being the fastest, 4 being slowest. I tried changing the fan switch with the new Lutron Caseta fan switch and it did not work. Fan makes a low electric hum when on but not enough to bother me. Small, quiet and understated. This is such a great fan. It was easy to install and the each of the parts, all off the fittings and bezels look like they were engineered to go together. Sometimes you get pieces made in China that just don't fit, you have to sort of force the pieces together. With this unit, it was a pleasant surprise that everything just went together nicely. The fan operates quietly and produces a significant amount of turbulence. The switch is a little awkward, in order to use all the speeds, you need to use the switch - there are no strings to pull to change speeds (which makes it very sleek). However, the high number is the low speed. Reversing the polarity doesn't work. In either case, this is the second Minka fan we have purchased and we consider it worth the investment over a builder grade fan or replacement at one of the mega home improvement store. ... show more

Did not come with the shorter 3 1/2” down rod like everybody said but I easily shortened the 6” one to get a lower profile on my short ceiling!! Will probably get more for other rooms in the house!!! In the pics the ceiling is 7’9” height and I’m 6’3” and have good clearance now so you can see why I needed the 3” drop tube also can’t use the dress bezelthat hides the screw where it attaches to fan but the fan being black you really don’t notice that unless your right up on it looking for it!! I love the look of this fan, so I purchased two. They were both professionally installed. One fan makes too much sound, in my opinion. It's not just the whooshing of air, it's a mechanical sound. I have a fan in a different room from a different manufacturer that is completely silent, so I guess I just expected the Minka Aire Roto to be the same. Disappointed. The second fan's directional switch wasn't functioning, it only spun in the "hot air" direction- not great for summer. So I contacted the seller who told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a new switch. We had it professionally installed, with no luck, and then the fan stopped working all together. I contacted Amazon and they said what I thought they might - I'm outside of my return window. I'm currently waiting on Minka Aire technical support to see if they will replace the entire fan. Really disappointed this fan. ... show more

We already had this fan in our home and purchased a second one for a newly finished bedroom. We love this fan! Even on the highest speed it is extremely balanced and has no rocking motion or noise. Assembly and install were straightforward. The wall control switch always seems backwards to me, 4 is low and 1 is high. One comment - somewhere on the item description I thought this fan came with a 3.5" and 6" downrod but only a 6" is included. However, 3.5" would probably not work with this fan since it is very low profile to begin with. Love the more modern look and the price is great. ... show more
