I got this for our teenager who was started to experiment with making simple crafts and even some sewing projects that use patterns. I was initially concerned this was going to be more of a toy than an actual sewing machine but so far the kid really likes using it and has produced some neat projects.     • honestly the hardest sewing machine I've ever used
I've had a fair share of machines, from old vintage singers to modern days Brothers and Bernettes. This one is just one of the hardest thing i've ever seen. The machine has all these loops to help the thread go into the needle, but the loops are not easy to loop around. Even if you manage to set up correctly, the threads tend to misalign and move around all the time. The optional battery operation is nice but you cannot use the peddle for some reason. The machine has only two speed settings, low or high, unless you attach the peddle. Honestly just an frustrating experience overall. I would not recommend buying this ... show more

I am very impressed with this machine. It is very small and lightweight but sews a nice stitch if you can keep the fabric straight. Unlike some toy machines that are chain stitch machines (one thread) this one is a regular two thread machine. Straight stitch only, and does not do reverse. It is easy enough to lift the foot and manually move the fabric back to begin or and a line of stitching though. It comes pre-threaded. It has a spool pin on top to use regular size thread spools and has a bobbin below. It comes with preloaded bobbins and a couple extra empty ones. The machine comes with a. Foot pedal and AC cord, but it also has a start/stop switch to run the machine without the foot pedal. You can also use 4 AA batteries instead of the cord. I can't imagine how you could make a functional sewing machine with less. It's really about as bare bones as I could conceive and I'm pretty surprised at how effective it is. I'm not a frequent user of sewing machines, but I needed something for repairs, and this is a perfect little tool for the job. I'm quite impressed. I have a wonderful full size sewing machine at my home, but we spend our summers in a different location. I wanted something that I could just do emergency repairs on and small projects while there for a few months of the year. This is tiny, and has a tiny foot pedal, but it sews a straight stitch well with a solid seam on average weight material.
