  • FAN-TASTIC (Edit: ONE NOTABLE FLAW)
Color: Black-White
A very usable practice amp: Good: 1) Gets SUPER FREAKING LOUD - actually approaching (no drums) rehearsal volume capabilities. 2) IT HAS REVERB! 3) The knobs and switches all do what you want them to do 4) The distortion can sound pretty damn good 5) Clean can sound pretty good 6) Distortion/Tone are consistent through volume range. 7) 2000 mah 18650 3.7v LiFePO4 battery Consider: 1) It gets PLENTY loud for a practice amp. Burly little speakers. At lowest volume, I can't get it quiet enough for nightime practice if I want any gain, so, headphones required if someone is sleeping down the hall. The maximum loudness is louder than you might want to use in your house or apartment if anyone might be disturbed. If you're going to get that loud, might as well fire up your, for example, Marshall 5 watt. 2) the distortion is OK, but we all know what great distortion costs. If I tweak enough, I can get something I'm really happy with, but that's mainly in the heavy metal power chord distortion - it does that very well and it's great fun. But it's not great sounding with light distortion, and doesn't handle more than three notes at a time with any grace. Two notes, hell yes. Keith Richards open G power chords are a BLAST. 3) Clean tone sounds best (to me) when it's mid-high range solos, which is not a bad sweet spot to have on a practice amp. 4) Whatever good sounding tones/distortion I can get out of it covers a narrow range, more so than with pedals and amps, but in a way that's good for a practice amp because it forces you to learn early that your guitar pots are an active part of your instrument and your skills have to be honed there, too. FLAW: it's easy to pull this off a ledge or a table with your guitar cable, and, if you do, it's likely to FALL ONTO the input plug and BREAK THE JACK INTERNALLY. Happened to me yesterday. Today I opened it up (this is how I know what battery it has in it) . This thiing is super well designed and has quality components - not discrete but one would not expect that - and the pots are all METAL SHAFT tanks, but the freaking 1/4" input jack is weenie town. It's fragile plastic, in stark contrast to the rest of the build. I don't get it. Why put in all these decent compoenents and cheap-out on the input jack? I had to dismantle the housing, super-glue it back together, and re-assemble the unit, which was a bit of a project. I was so happy though when I was done, becuase that's when I tried some open G stuff, and I had a blast! This has two speaers but it sums the L+R stereo input into one channel, which is fine, except when phase shifting is used between the two channels in the original mix for stereo separation or whatever, in which case that signal is significantly degraded on this device. So don't count on using it as a bluetooth speaker. ... show more

  • Decent mini practice amp with a nice overdrive function
Color: Black-Orange
The media could not be loaded. Cutting to the Chase: A mixed experience – Decent sound and good overdrive, but underwhelming volume and reverb. TL;DR version This mini amplifier looks nice, and its compact design makes it convenient for travel. It is decent for the price range, but the actual amplified volume was lower than expected, especially compared to the volume my un-amplified bass produces. In testing (see video), my bass produced 67 decibels un-amplified. With the amp set to full volume, it only reached 86 decibels, and even with the overdrive engaged, the max was about 98 decibels. While the overdrive function sounds nice, the reverb feature was lackluster, adding little to the overall sound. On the plus side, the Bluetooth works as expected, and the amp functions well as a poor man’s headphone preamp. As a basic portable mini practice amp, I feel it generally meets its description expectations. There is Nothing terrible about it, but Nothing outstanding either. Pros: * USB recharging is convenient. * Decent sound quality for the price with a nice overdrive function * Bluetooth connectivity works and pairs as expected. * Makes a good poor man's headphone preamp. Cons: * Lower volume than expected. * The reverb is underwhelming and does not add much depth. PLEASE NOTE: Reviews reflect my customer experience using the product, based on its actual performance vs. what its description, pictures, or diagrams may suggest. I rate this as a 3-star customer experience. The reasons I feel kept it from being a better experience were the lower-than-expected volume output and weak reverb function. My rating system: 1 Star - Abysmal experience and/or failed to meet significant parts of its description. 2 Stars - Poor experience, primarily as described, but second-rate or very poor value. 3 Stars - Average experience, generally meets the promised expectations. 4 Stars - Good experience, meets all expectations, reasonable value for money. 5 Stars - EXCELLENT experience! Far exceeded practically all expectations. ... show more

  • Great little practice amp!
Color: Black-White
This is a VERY nice little practice amp, competitively priced, and has more features and better sound than a costlier amp I recently came into possession of. In my opinion, it's a very good value for the money. This will not be useful for venues, but it will help the player in practice and in nailing down their performance techniques. Somebody sitting near them would be able to hear the same. I love that it's got a Clean Channel and an Overdrive Channel. A Clean Channel gives a relatively undistorted sound, while the Overdrive gives a more amped up sound that pretty much duplicates the old tube amps when pushed to their limits. It's a sound lead guitarists often chase for today's performances. Having a reverb effect built into the amp is nice as well. The fact that it's for chargeable is a game changer. It adds portability and versatility to practically anywhere, and you don't have to be near an outlet. I love this little amp. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Cute and small like a Bluetooth speaker
Color: Black-White
Don't let the size fool you it can still get loud. it took me a bit playing with the settings to get it to sound like my old amp but I eventually got it there. I don't play much these days and I sold all my big amps because they were taking up space. I just had my electric guitars hanging on the wall as a decoration. The other day I got a wild hair to play and it was not as fun with out an amp. This little amp solved the problem and you can Bluetooth your phone to it and have it play a song then you can play along with it, or at least attempt to in my case. ... show more
