    • Works - BUT - here's what you need to know to make it work well.
Unlike our typical kitchen refrigerators that use compressors, motors, and coils, these little refrigerators use thermoelectric cooling, which uses a plate of a special material and the Peltier effect to make one side of the plate hot and the other side cold when electricity flows through it. Reverse the current flow, and the opposite sides of the plate get hot and cold. I am reliably seeing the coldest spot (along the back wall) inside this refrigerator at some 55F to 57F degrees below the ambient air temperature going into the fan (an inexpensive 80 mm industrial fan that's inside the back wall). From what I just measured now, with a room temperature of 75F, the coldest spot inside the refrigerator (along the back inside wall, after the unit been running a little while and cooled down) is about 20F, which is 55F below room temp. That 55F below room temp seems reasonable to me. I might be seeing the advertised 59F or more if I took the refrigerator apart and measured the bare plate. (This product is not designed for such end-user disassembly). But to get this result, 55F below ambient, I had to futz around with the air flow. A major limitation of this, and similar, inexpensive little Peltier effect refrigerators is that the hot exhaust air is right next to the where the fan is pulling in what should be cooler ambient air. The hotter the air being pulled into the fan, the hotter it will be inside this little refrigerator. I had to build a silly little box out of cardboard and a cylindrical oatmeal cereal container and some duck tape, to get these temps. My modified cardboard box directs the hot air out the sides and to the front, while the cylindrical oatmeal cereal container guides in the soon to be cool air from about 8 inches behind the unit into the fan. Bottom line - you can get close to 60F below room (ambient fan input air) temps on the inside back wall, but you'll have to manage air flow, separating the ambient intake from the hot exhaust to get the best results. ... show more

I used this in my classroom. Pros: it is small and lightweight. It is useful for a small amount of drinks or snacks. It is relatively inexpensive compared to larger refrigerators. The shelf is removable so you can put things of different sizes in it. Cons: it doesn’t get as cold as larger refrigerators. I chilled my drinks before putting them in the small fridge. It would take many hours to chill a room temperature item. It doesn’t shut tightly and comes open easily. I have not tried the car adapter yet. ... show more

I bought this to store my breastmilk at work and it definitely does the job of keeping it cold. I am not sure if it is technically a food safe temperature as I haven't checked that. It is virtually undetectable in noise. It is really compact and was easy to set up. It did develop ice on the backwall within a few days - not sure what caused that. ... show more

Best price I found on Amazon compared to all the same size fridges. Comes with automobile and standard house power cords. I live in the south and it's getting hotter than usual, so I was a bit skeptical about how cold this unit would keep my drinks. Now, don't expect it to be as cold as your kitchen fridge, but it's pretty close! Keeps my beer cold enough for sure. My tip, is to help the little guy out by putting a cold drink from the big fridge into this unit whenever you take 1 from it. That will help keep things cooler. It delivers exactly what I wanted. I keep it in the bedroom and it's awesome. I only have 1 critique: it comes with a shelf that you can put in 1 of 2 positions. I put mine in the position which allows 6 cans to fit. The problem is that when you want to grab a can from the bottom in the back row, the shelf kind of gets in the way and makes it a bit of a pain to pull the can out. Bought it for yogurt in my office. It holds 3 with the shelf, 4 without. Was hoping for 6-8. Will fit 2 bottled waters, maybe 3 if you tilt the one to the back. It tapers as it goes in, so the bottles have to be jammed in the front and don't fit in the back. Fits 2 small bottled sodas tilted, and they roll out when you open it. I feel like a little more foresight in the design would have gone a long way. Like designing it just slightly taller on the inside would easily accommodate 4 bottled waters instead of 2. Water condenses on the inside and should be wiped regularly. A small lip on the bottom inside would prevent spills and discourage stuff from rolling out when you have to creatively pack it in there to fit. It's not silent, but the noise is similar to the AC coming out of the vent in my office, so it just sounds more like I'm on the Enterprise, flying through space. Still worth the price, and convenient with AC and DC switches and plugs... and a warmer. ... show more

I absolutely love this thing! I'm chronically ill and I keep it by my bed so I can always have a cold drink. So fantastic, especially in the middle of the night! The two drinks that stay next to the back wall get colder than the ones in the front. The two back ones get as cold if not a little colder than my actual refrigerator. The ones in the front don't get quite that cold. I do keep it fairly cool in my room, so this little thing is able to get really cold! Won't be without one from now on! (Edited because I'm an idiot and thought it had died, but it had actually come unplugged juuust enough to stop working, haha.) ... show more

This mini fridge is fantastic! I've used it as a mini fridge for storing pumped milk in my office for our newborn. It keeps anything put in it very cold. We have also used it in our truck on long rides as it uses very little electricity! A+++
