I am writing an update to this review. After I posted the review, the manufacturer responded very quickly and offered a refund for the purchase of the mini-saw and said they would pass my observation on to their design department. I do appreciate their very good customer service and am upgrading to 3 stars on the basis of that alone. I REALLY do like the mini-saw and would have given it a 5 if we hadn't discovered the issue with the main chain tension bolt stripping so easily. I will say the product does run great and does its job very well, but be extremely careful adjusting the chain tension with that bolt and nut. We own several chainsaws and the chains do need adjusting from time to time, especially when one first starts to use them, so one does have to do that with this tool also. My only other complaint for this tool and the other Seesii tool I purchased, the Electric Pruning Shears (which works great by the way) is that the cases that the tools came in don't fit the tools very well. It's always a struggle to get all the pieces; tools, batteries, oil, etc, back in the case and be able to shut the lid. And the manufacturer said they would pass that along to their development group, also. --------------------------------(previous review) We just started using this hand chainsaw and after having to adjust the chain a couple of times in the last couple of weeks, the bolt that holds the chain in place is stripped and we can no longer tighten the nut that holds the chain in place. Seems to me like that bolt should be a bit harder steel. Unfortunately this was a Christmas present for my husband and the window for return closed before we started using it. ... show more

    • Great little saw for the money
This saw paid for itself the first time I used it as far as I'm concerned. It take stress off the back and body from having to wield a full sized chainsaw for de-limbing fallen trees. We had a bad winter storm with super heavy snow and wind that took down a LOT of trees and branches. There was and still is a tremendous amount of cleanup. This saw allows you to more easily cut away the tree canopies/branches before sawing up the tree trunks and larger branches. Battery life is reasonable but I found a weakness. This saw likes to jump or bounce when freestyle cutting branches. I didn't think anything about it other that is was a bit annoying, until one day I realized it was not cutting all the way through, say, a 2" branch. The chain was still sharp, so that wasn't the problem. Upon further inspection, I realized that the chain bar groove was a little bit "mushroomed" or damaged, so after the chain got through the wood, the bar was now wider than the chain preventing the bar from easily passing through along with the cut. I realized I could flip the bar, putting the damaged edge up. But I was also able to skillfully hammer/tap (I'm pretty good with tools, and an old metal guy, so I have the instinct for this) the edge back in to shape and file it clean. So, all that "bouncing" actually showed how weak the metal chain bar groove. I know to avoid that bouncing as much as possible now. SeeSii customer service was responsive and led me to where I could buy a new bar (only with a new chain too), which is good. More than 25% the cost of the entire tool that came with 2 batteries and two chains, but at least its available so the whole tool doesn't become useless at some point. This tool is a good trial tool, to tell me when it fails, to invest in a professional quality version. The concept itself is so useful. I saw reviews from people complaining it's not for left handed people. I'm right handed, but one of the things I like about this tool is I can easily operate it ambidextrously. In fact, holding it with the left hand makes it a natural position to hold the safety button...actually defeating the purpose of the safety button, which is fine by me. Exceptionally good product. Light and powerful. I could easily cut 10-15 inches thick branches. Pay attention to the polarity of the chain. One drawback is that it is more suited for the right-handed person. The button to turn it on should be pressed with the thumb. The left-handed person will have to use the indicator finger, which is weaker and leads to the interruption of action. I cannot comment on the battery life as I just recently get it. ... show more

I heat with wood and have handled chainsaws all my life. I got this saw because I have shoulder issues making it difficult to hold "regular" chainsaws for trimming. I was surprised at how well this mini saw works! Here are my observations both good and otherwise. The saw works best if you keep wood near the saw and not the tip. The saw is light and easy to maneuver. The battery life is surprisingly good. The saw must have some breaks between lager cuts to allow for cooling, a couple minutes every now and then is better than 30 minutes after heat shuts it down. Suggestions I would have for maker are this. 1) relocate the oiler button so it can be pressed with the same hand (making it a fully one hand operation) 2) the case is nice to keep the saw in but make it so the saw can be stored fully assembled.
