Shockingly good performance compared to the price. Basic, simple and straightforward. I pick a couple settings for my 7year old son and he can lead the way down the beach. It works great but does feel a bit flimsy.

We have had fun with this so far and found some things that were buried pretty deeply, which impressed me since I didn't buy the most expensive one. The beeps are easy to tell apart, overall works very well picking up junk and coins! More sensitive than expected for the Intrepid version. Works very well for the price. Definitely out performs panicky and other cheapo detectors. On par with my Tesoro cibola if that tells you anything. It's a minelab! Enuff said.

Minelab Intrepid. I'm familiar with Minelab because my first metal detector was a Minelab 340. I would give the 340 4 stars. I returned the Minelab Intrepid the next day. It had very poor sensitivity at the highest setting. Air and ground testing with coins and jewelry the coil had a 1 to 3 inch depth. On the grass at this depth the coil is eating more grass that a buried target. The coil is cheaply made. The bottom cover is flemsy. Sand and any kind of water in my opinion would not be good for this coiI. Pinpointer is not accurate at all. Testing on a single coin and pickingbup false signal around it. I noticed the same looking coil on other Chinese made metal detectors, so I would advise stay away from any detector with this coil. This Minelab Intrepid is made in CHINA.
