This is a great detector for the money! For me it has had a small learning curve compared to my old Tesoro Conquistador but man this thing finds the smallest of items and very deep. The vendor was great to deal with and shipped air mail at no extra charge.

It's definitely not a top of the line detector like a manticore BUT it's an excellent mid range machine. I have been running my Elite for a few months now and have found no problems but one. Occasionally the detectors tones will become scratchy when hitting a target. I've adjusted all settings to correct for this but none have worked. I supposed due to it being a new detector in the minelab line they'll hopefully come up with a software fix. Outside of that one issue I am very pleased with this machine and would definitely recommend this to anyone advancing in the metal detecting field but don't want to spend thousands. ... show more

I was very excited to receive my new Xterra Elite but after opening the outer shipping box I noticed that the Minelab box had major damage. I assembled the detector with the 12" coil, charged the unit & went outside to test it out. With the 12" coil I got no response even with a quarter within a 1/2" of the coil. I then changed out that coil for the 8" coil & the detector worked just fine. Like I said, very disappointed that Amazon would ship an expensive electronic device with a box in this condition.
