  • Leave it to Milwaukee to Deliver!
I already had a battery powered trimmer and it did a fine job for smaller projects but it really wasn't designed to handle anything remotely tough. In comes my favorite Milwaukee. Took that straight out of the box, put a battery in it and went straight to work cutting down the growth next to my residence. The only thing it did not cut through turned out to be a small tree that was at least .25". Trimming for the first time of the season on my acre property which is half fenced with wood and wired fencing. I had to stop and resolve line problems a total amount of ZERO! That's right folks, I tore through everything and the included line just took it. I probably only bumped it three times for the entire acre. The two speed option is wonderful for saving battery life. I can't give you exact time on battery life because I have been playing with it too much to remember. I do know that I used a M18 2.0 and I was able to cut a third of the fence line using the two speeds. You can't ask for anything better. Yes I have my Stihl and its a powerhouse but my back knows it at the end of the day. This one, I edged the acre and when finished said oh what the hell, I'll just mow it now. Now that is a fantastic testimony. Get it and you will love it! ... show more

  • Typical Milwaukee; THE MONSTER!!!
I've had a dozen or so weed trimmers in my 70 years. But this one is The HOSS!!! It's BIG, it's BEEFY, it's not TOO heavy. But, most definitely NOT for any of you girly types! My Better Half could NEVER use this machine! This thing REQUIRES both hands! And, it works BETTER than the last two 2-cycle trimmers I've had. Battery life is great with the 9AH battery. And the Milwaukee trimmer line it comes with is unbelievably long-lasting! Expensive, but well worth it! It's THE MONSTER!!! ... show more

  • Battery Outlasted Me
This thing is a amazing. I had a corded electric before this and what a pain it was to keep adding extension cords. I am so out of shape, my arms gave out before the battery did. It is a little heavy but I like it - it's rugged. One star off because the bump feature, as most trimmers that have it, doesn't work easily, if at all. I had to keep taking the spool off and manually extending them. I did find it worked better on pavement even though the manual says not to bump on that. This thing has great power. My yard was really overgrown. There was certain weeds/brush that were just too thick for it - I expected that. But it cut through a lot more than I expected it too. Once I cut those out with hand pruners, it's just possible I could stay on top of my yardwork now. ... show more

  • An excellent yard tool
I have been using this trimmer for 3 1/2 months, trimming in and around 3 acres worth of ground. This trimmer is on a par with the German made trimmer that I used for 15 years--good for anything short of saplings. The weight with battery is only so-so, especially since there is no shoulder harness. Anyone going all the way to a dead battery will understand me on this point. The battery goes for one hour running the trimmer hard, about an hour and a half when run conservatively. The battery gives no warning before it crashes--the trimmer simply stops dead. It is a feather weight without the battery which makes putting it up for storage a pleasure. The cutting filament is the biggest surprise. I took one look at it initially and thought what a joke; however, since starting with this trimmer in March, I am still on the initial length of filament. It is very strong. It also winds back up in a cinch. I would have gone through at least 3 to 4 spools of nylon filament by this time. For those with a lot of trimming, I strongly recommend buying a second battery. I also recommend painting the bump-spring under the filament spool cover a bright color. If the spool cover comes off with the unit running, the spring will go flying. Hard to find because it's painted black. This is an excellent tool all told. ... show more

  • Great for homeowners
I use this to clear the areas in my yard I can't reach with the mower. I would probably run this for 30-45 minutes. The included battery easily makes it that long. It's quite and pretty lightweight. Although you might want to get a shoulder strap for it. It will go through significant brush easily. I like having it because I don't need to worry about getting gas or mixing it, or making sure I have fresh gas. I never have to mess with starting it like I would a gas powered trimmer. ... show more

  • Wife loves great over all gotta slow down for Thick stuff
Very happy with performance of this. It is not as powerful as gas powered trimmer, if you do thick-tall grass or weeds often may be better off with gas. Still works in most areas but thick stuff takes longer to get through it. For more typical trimming works great and is much lighter. My wife loves it. I have trimmed fence around 1 acre with multiple trees and only one or two bars on 9 mA battery ... show more

  • After going through 4 other weed trimmers...
I got this thing about a week ago. I had worn out the cheap Black and Deckers, one caught fire. The Echo gas powered one I bought never started and was returned to the store. I was so tired of spending all my time fighting with the line, twisting, running out... Finally, I have the best! I am a 64 year old 123 lbs woman with a LOT of weeds. The battery does run hard for about one hour before quitting. It recharges in about 1.5 hours. The string assembly was something I could find no information about, I just had to trust the Milwaukee reputation. The string is heavy.095. There are 2 reels inside, one for each side. I have been using the trimmer for heavy stuff through three battery charges, now, and has not run out of string. Loading it sounds fairly simple, it winds it self, in a sense... You do not have to remove the reels and hand wind. Everything on this thing is heavy duty. It may be slightly too long for me, but I will deal with it. ... show more

  • it works fine. I can't attest to it's power or battery ...
Before buying this trimmer, be aware that the instructions specifically say NOT to use it as a trimmer because the guard is too small to protect the user from flying debris. That happens to be what I bought it for. Other than that, it works fine. I can't attest to it's power or battery life because I don't have a big or over grown yard. And yes, I use it as a trimmer. I don't have kids or pets that can get hit by debris and I wear safety goggles. ... show more
