Works good, heavy duty magnet with a nice rubber overmold. Threads into the back of the Milwaukee stick light with 1/4-20 threads, the same as standard camera tripod. Only four stars because for the price of the stick light itself (no batteries or charger!), I personally feel the magnet should have been included with the tool. The magnet holds up great with the standard compact m12 batteries, I had no issues sticking it to any metal surface at any angle. However with the larger XC and XC 4.0 batteries, the magnet isn't quite adequate in some positions Before I would buy this again I'd attempt to fabricate my own by epoxying a more powerful neodymium magnet to a commonly available 1/4-20 bolt. UPDATE: 2 stars down from 4 Having had a few more weeks using my M12 Stick Light (every day as an auto tech), I've had a lot of time to see all the situations I'd be using this light and magnet in, and the results have been anything but good. I find myself constantly re-tightening the magnet into the light; it won't stay tight enough, and you can't put enough torque on the magnet without worrying about stripping the threads or breaking the light. I *could* put a thread locking compound on it, but then I wouldn't be able to use the light with a tripod without hassle or risking damage to my light. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE my Stick Light - especially for interior and electrical work - but this magnet isn't up to the task of making sure the light STAYS where it's put in an auto shop - Under hoods, fenders, dashboards, upside down, it just doesn't cut it. Several times this magnet has let go, and let my EXPENSIVE light and batteries hit the concrete floor - the last time it let go it broke the tabs off one of my M12 compact batteries - Thankfully my local Home Depot exchanged the broken battery for a new one with no hassle. I ordered a couple small but super strong (5+lbs) N52 neodymium magnets, and will make my own magnetic mount from a stainless 1/4-20 bolt. Outside the auto shop, this could be a decent magnet, but I would never trust it 100%.

so, yeah, once you buy the light and this magnet you have a $100 flashlight. seems ridiculous right? it is, but having the ability to stick my light inside a furnace (because the a'holes that build houses think it's ok to put one light in a basement 30 feet away from the furnace) or light up a vav box above a ceiling without having to hold a flash light or wear a headlamp is fantastic. makes life so much easier and calls go faster when you can see. magnet is very strong and has no problem holding the lamp to metal things with either size battery installed. my only complaint is that the magnet just screws in to the back of the light and it loosens up from time to time. you just tighten it, but sometimes you'll stick your light to something and it will swing around the magnet because the screw is loose. just annoying sometimes, but not a big enough complaint to dock any stars. I guess I have two complaints: why doesn't this come with the light Milwaukee??? if you have an m12 stick light, you should buy this.

I received this magnet today for my milwaukee light. I was worried that the magnet wouldn't be strong enough to hold the light up because I had the other milwaukee m12 flashlight and the magnet on it was to weak to hold the light up securely. I am glad to report that this is not the case with this light and magnet. I work on appliances everyday and this magnet is strong enough to hold the light in any position even on thin sheet metal. If you work on appliances or do hvac work this is the light and magnet combo for you!

I think this should be included with lite and not sold separately. I used the magnet once since I got it and it didn't shine the lite in right place to be able to see what I needed as light not bright enough and couldn't move the magnet. Will see if works on other projects later or if not a good idea to get magnet. Maybe why it is sold separately. Also makes it more clumsy to use as magnet is in the way when gripping and carrying the lite. Love the lite itself and think a good buy.

I found that when I used the Milwaukee 48-11-2440 M12 REDLITHIUM XC 4.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack, which has the square base, the magnet had a hard time holding the light horizontally, such as hanging from the underside of a car hood. The battery pack seemed to heavy for teh magnet to stay securely attached. On vertical surfaces, such as a door frame, it held OK with the bigger battery. When I used with the standard shaped M12 battery, such as the Milwaukee 48-11-2420, the magnet worked flawlessly in all positions.

Works very good as I'm part of a graveyard shift that needs good lighting in order to complete tasks. I work on medium and heavy duty trucks and this little magnet paired with the strong led light helps me out when there's no bays in the shop to work in during my night shift.

Works great. Just wish it came with the light. I would have paid a bit extra to have it come with the the light kit. Over all it works good.
