Great worklight. Bright beam. Very compact. Stands well on it's own to allow hands-free use. Great addition to any Dewalt tool family so that existing 20V MAX batteries can be used.

    • Great light but, but only have found 2 areas that can be better
This light is awesome and compact. The rotating head is very useful, and its bright. I'm a appliance repair technician, and use a backpack tool bag, the backpack has one of those clip holders on the outside of the bag, and it was the perfect spot for me to hang my light off of. It left room extra space in my bag, and it was nice to have my light so easily accessed. I've been hanging it there for the better part of a year, and no issues, but just the other day the metal clip broke off, so now I can't hang it on the clip holder anymore. I would love to see that clip be more robust. It should be thicker metal imo. The other thing is the magnet strength. The magnet should be as strong as possible. It sticks well on flat metal surfaces, but sticking it on the back of a fridge aiming down at me, sometimes it moves from the weight of the gravity. These are awesome features but if they are there, they should be STRONG!!! Beefier metal clip,and super magnets are needed to make this a 5 star! I love dewalt, I've been using their tools for over 10 years and have never had a problem with their products, until this light. Still a good light but would love to see these upgrades in the newer models if they make them ... show more

Pro: 1) This work light provide excellent bright light. 2) The light can be maneuvered easily to change direction of the light. 3) It has a belt clip as well as a stand. 4) It is easy to use. Cons: 1) The magnet will only work for smaller batteries than my 5 AMP. The 5 AMP battery goes beyond the magnet making it useless. 2) The stand works but is not real stable. Overall it meets my expectations, is of great quality and will be useful anytime I am working in low light situations. ... show more

Purchased this one on black Friday and so happy with the purchase. It has magnets and it hold really good. The only problem is that those magnets will not work with large battery like the one on the picture (5ah) because the battery sticks out. But no big deal. There are other mounting options that you can use and the light head can be rotated the way you want it. With 5AH battery you can have a light for two nights. ... show more

    • So much better than the DCL040 light!!!
While it may not be quite as bright as the DCL040 light, the head PIVOTS!!! Not just up and down, but side to side too! Working underneath a vehicle, the old light was just a pain to get it to shine exactly where I wanted it to, but this new light makes that all go away. I can prop the light on the frame of my truck, the angle the head up and to the left or right as needed. And the light is definitely bright enough for everything I work on! I just wish they had a diffuser you could clip on for those places where you want a flood light. This was easy to make for the old DCL040, just take an old standard led light bulb and cut the globe off, it was the perfect size to fit over the head of the DCL040, and made it into a flood light (a little black tape around the head keeps the globe on there tight!). Overall, this is a much better design, and although you need the smaller battery (2A 20v) to use the magnet, it just works well as a portable LED light. Using it with a 3A or even a flex volt battery is fine too, and I'm sure you can get days of run time from one of those flex volt batteries! Perfect for camping!!! ... show more
