  • Fantastic DeWalt Light
Fantastic light. So much better than the old DeWalt lights. Works great with any of the 20v batteries and puts off a lot of light. Very convenient to have in your toolbox.

  • Very Bright and very handy to have around!
I have the older version of this light as well ,and this 1 is BRIGHTER on the second setting, These lights are pretty tough just like there other tools in my Dewalt tool collection , I only bought this 1 just to have a backup in case my older 1 goes out, Nothing wrong with having a spare I say : )

  • Great light if you are invested in Dewalt system
Received this light in Dec 2024 and it has been great. Good battery life, good durability and two brightness settings. The hook is also convenient for working under the hood of a vehicle.

  • I don't think this line is suited for my application
I have been a mechanic of many forms throughout my life thus far, from a diesel mechanic in the Marine Corps, an electric motor mechanic, an auto tech at my father's 40+ year business, to my current position as a field service tech specializing in servicing light and heavy equipment and tools used in industrial energy and power construction. Admittedly my current position is probably the most hellish environment in which a tool could ever serve, but I take great pride in my collection and take care of my gear as best I possibly can while under serious time constraints. However, I often have helpers that I can't always monitor as many of us do, so to be fair, there may have been some rough treatment that I'm not aware of to this light. I started acquiring Dewalt's 20v line after purchasing the 1/2" drive high torque brushless impact after using mostly air tools during my career. My first location in my new position was remote, it was the dead of winter and from 30 degrees down to the single digits most days, and always wet and ridiculously muddy. I was tasked with keeping 5 excavators fitted with cluster hammers for drilling rock up and running. Three to five times a day I swapped out worn drill rig heads with my fresh rebuilds, each time required the removal of 26 1 1/2 nuts from 8 inch bolts that were being brutalized from vibration 70-90 hours a week. Two of the 5ah batteries could get one removed and another installed, with the occasional breaker bar or nut splitter. That impact shaved over an hour from my time and saved my back, I was sold. I became deeply invested in this line of tools despite noticing that industrial contractors here in the southeast seem to be moving away from dewalt and mostly to Milwaukee. I began having an issue with that impact a couple months in to that job, sometimes when using it, especially when nose up, its battery would lose contact and I would have to shake it to get it moving again. It took a while before I could really examine what was happening, but now I've experienced the same problem with multiple tools in the line including this light. Obviously I was working the tool hard, and it generates a massive amount of heat for a battery powered tool. But it would make its own plastic body soft enough that if it laid against anything else too soon after heavy use, there would be impressions left in it and all of the writing on its side was illegible after a couple months and that was out in 30 degree weather. The fact that it was capable of doing what I was using it for is an incredible feat in itself, but I do believe it should reach a thermal shutdown before this could happen and provide the user with a little security that they aren't about to throw $500 down the drain because they're too busy to sit it aside to cool in the middle of a job, time is money. Later I realized that my batteries where deforming from heat, and the plastic became brittle and has cracked and broken on several of them, one of them was used exclusively with this light. This light is not rugged, and do not expect it to be one to toss in the tool bag with everything else and beat around in the bed of your truck. The other reviewers mentioning it's tendancy to tip over when tilted are right, and it's my opinion that Dewalt should have made rubber bumpers that protrude far enough away from the lens to prevent impact with some things. In my case the plastic around the lens cracked up and fell apart and allowed the lens to fall off. It's been zip tied for about 6 months. You can tighten the floppy tilting mechanism by tightening a torx screw under the sticker over the joint on the left hand side with the lens facing you, but don't pierce the other side because there is wiring that comes all the way to the surface of the hole that's covered only by a sticker. Later another battery overheated after the light had been left on on the workbench, I have no idea for how long and the plastic at the base cracked in the front and rear. I had to epoxy it back together and install my own bolt with a nut through the plastic sleeve on its back after it all broke apart and became misshapen from heat. I find the hook isn't as useful as I would like it to be, it's more for storage than for positioning for light. With all of that said it's still my favorite light, there's just something about the pattern it casts that I think makes it perfect for supplemental light at the bench. After experiencing these issues with overheating, plastic breaking and deforming and batteries breaking apart, I guess they aren't tough enough for my specific use. I've steadily been building my Milwaukee kit after seeing them survive projects with people giving them a beating, but I might run in to the same grief with them in a years time who knows. I can't always get air to where I'm going these days so hopefully this doesn't mean I would have to purchase new tools every year to keep up the speed they provide me, because now I'm spoiled and I'm sure that's what I'd do. ... show more

  • Great value and versatile
My husband wanted this for work (as electrician), home, camping, in the garage workshop, using on auto work. Is pretty lightweight, is so versatile to adjust the direction of the light, can stand on its own, or lay down. Can be hooked on things to use from above work site. Easy to use and the quality has been excellent. Easy to move from one place to another, and comfortable to pick up by hand. Easy to replace the battery. ... show more

  • Great light.
This is a much better like than the older models. I used to like the other flashlight model, but this lights things up better. Only complaint is the joint mechanism which I wish was maybe 25% stiffer and less likely to change position.

  • Great illumination, great battery life
I just received mine yesterday and put it into service addressing an on-demand water heater issue. I used it for a 1/2 hour or so in the afternoon to shine light into my Noritz. Later in the evening I decided to put the front cover back on it so I used the light again, hanging from an overheat water pipe: hook feature is great. However, I forgot to turn it OFF and noticed it still ON this morning, a full 12 hours later. It spent the night on the LOW setting (300 lumens). I find the LOW setting was plenty of light for what I was doing, a nice floodlight beam, and being close to the work. I had my 5Ahr battery attached to it. With the 5Ahr connected, I tested its balance on the floor at all the angles the head allows: no problem on a level floor. This may get a bit wobbly and unstable if powered by a smaller battery at full angle. FYI. Expensive for a small work light, but I went down the DeWalt road and now have a bunch of batteries and chargers so this purchase made good sense and I'm very happy with it. ... show more
