  • Powerful, low-vibration, well-balanced cordless reciprocating saw
I hate to admit this, but I actually own three recip saws, a Milwaukee super sawzall, a Dewalt 12v Max cordless recip, and this Milwaukee. Their primary use now is in my yard, with lots of heavy pruning, root removal, and branch removal being the primary use. I had also, until about a year ago, owned a V18 Milwaukee recip saw that was my first cordless saw. I got that saw when I had seen my plumber use it to cut out and replace a shower faucet that involved carving out a lot of interfering stud work and was impressed with its power and portability. He love the tool, used it every day, and clearly gave it hard use- and it had held up well for him. Hence the original V18 purchase. Having both the super and the V18 gave me a chance to use them side by side in the yard for a year that involved a lot of heavy tree work. What struck me most was the difference in operating comfort, as well as capacity, for the corded Super Sawzall vs the V18 cordless model. If was definitely easier to not have to run power out to the tree with a cord, but the bigger saw also vibrated a LOT less and was a lot more comfortable to use for extended work. The V18 was also definitely easier to use overhead (most tree work) even with less power and limited run time. Last year, I decided it was time to upgrade my V18 set to something newer. I shifted to the new Dewalt 12v Max tools for my impact and drill-driver, and have been very happy with that decision. Based on those tools, I decided to try the Dewalt 12v max reciprocating saw. It' a good tool and light and powerful enough for pruning the Oleander that grows like it's on some kind of steroids out here, but it has as much vibration as my old V18 Milwaukee sawzall. So, when I ran across a review of the M18 Milwaukee Sawzall, I couldn't help but notice the comments about its smoothness and easy handling. Those reviews were absolutely right - it's a great tool on ll counts. It's designed for one-handed use, easy to use overhead. Battery life is very good, and it actually feels as smooth or smother than my corded super sawzall. It is now my go-to recip saw, and is my most used power tool in the summer and for winter pruning. My corded sawzall still gets use on heavy branches and for cutting out heavy tree and Wysteria roots (in California) mine grow more like trees than they ever did in the Midwest). All in all, the Milwaukee is a great tool. It's well designed and well made. It has the feel of a quality tool, it's smooth and easy to handle and use overhead. And it's held up well with a lot of hard use this past year. I have been very, very happy with this purchase and would recommend it without reservation for rough carpenter, plumber, or electrician use. ... show more

  • A game changer for cutting roots
We used this to cut out an extensive root network from a nearby tree that had broken our sprinkler system and it worked great. We purchased three different length blades suitable for cutting wood so that we could change blades depending on the diameter of root. The biggest root was about 9 inches in diameter. There is some vibration when using it and it does take some muscle but saved us days of work compared to using an axe by hand. We used two batteries so when one ran out we could charge it and use the other. They charge fast and I like that they have an indicator as to how much battery life is left. Update: have since used this for cutting a hole for a pet door, tree branches, rusted metal bolts. We just get the appropriate blade for whatever we’re cutting and it has never failed us. A quality power tool. ... show more

  • Power enough
Bought this to cut apart an old hot tub and it was great. It had the power to handily cut through all materials including, fiberglass, hi-density styrofoam, tubing, 2x6’s, screws and nails, etc. It was not too heavy so no hand fatigue. It was nice to not have to constantly look out for a cord. The price was great for a battery operated piece of equipment of this quality. Given its performance on the hot tub, I expect to be using it for a long time to come. ... show more

  • Sawzall
I really enjoy this thing. Use it more than I realized I would. This is my 2nd one, my 1st one I got from a pawn shop and through 6 years of grueling use I finally burned it up. This one is working great, comes with a bag and charger and 3 amp hour battery. Overall I am pleased with this purchase and would buy again. ... show more
