  • Phenominal value
I am a home hobbyist, not a professional. My cabinet making skills are at the fundamental level. Still, I have no concern giving this saw five starts. PROS: - Rip fence locks into position at one of four factory set positions, then moves with a geared dial for consistent precision. - The measuring gauge is adjustable to accommodate the four rip fence positions. It is spot on up to 1/16th of an inch. It is actually better, but 1/16th is the finest marking. - The rip fence has a leg that flips around to hold the end of your lumber when the fence is extended beyond the edge of the table. (A nice feature.) - I have not had the rip fence move over a series of cuts. But I still measure every few cuts to make sure. - All parts have a storage space. - The legs provide a solid stance. If there is wobble, due to an uneven surface, one leg easily adjusts to provide stability. - It is a solid strong table. - It takes two, maybe three, minutes to set up or take down. - It folds down to a compact size. - When the the legs are folded, it can be used as a bench-top saw (although without adjust-ability for uneven surfaces). - On my saw, all adjustments were spot on from the factory. Plus, adjustments can be made by the user if it ever does fall out of alignment. - Safety devices (blade guard, kickback, and riving knife) are all easily adjusted, removed, and installed (without tools). - The dust collection mechanism is very effective, even with my mini shop vac. - The dust collection system also catches dropped nuts, washers, or your blade. This makes them easily retrievable and keeps your carbide tipped blades from hitting the floor (which hopefully you know makes them trash). - The miter gauge has indention points where one can attach an extension board or jig. - For a saw of its type, it is quiet. It is much more quiet than my hand-held. Still, use hearing protection. - Excellent customer service. (Although the saw was the most well packaged I have received in a long time, there was one piece of the rip fence latch that was broken. It did not keep the fence from latching in place, but it puts undue strain on the other edge of the mechanism and I was sure it would cause it to fail at some point in time. A quick call to Skil customer service and they had an entirely new rip fence on its way to me. The new package included a return shipping label. They said they had received a number of notices of rip fence failures on shipments from Amazon and want to find and fix the issue.) CONS: - The miter gauge is plastic (although I didn't expect anything different at this price point). However, it is still well constructed and more than adequate for the vast majority of my cuts. I have attached an extension board and the gauge holds position well. However, it is not going to cut or hold position well enough to accommodate the precision you would expect from a jig. For precise cuts I use a sled. Although I use this saw at home, I needed something that was compact and that I could set up, take down, and store with each use. Cuts are accurate and consistent. They design is well thought out - easy and practical. For my uses, it is a near perfect saw. ... show more

  • Amazing value for the money.
I love this saw. I've got an old 1950s cabinet jointer/tablesaw combo and an old contractor Ryobi. Even if I had a giant shop I'd probably still use this as my go to, due to it's ease of calibration (which I didn't have to do out of the box really amazed at how everything was square), safety features, dust collection, etc. I'd feel fine ripping 4x8 plywood sheets with this so not sure why others complain about it. Right now I'm using it building cabinets in a kitchen as part of a home Reno. Cuts like butter and even with the factory blade it's pretty damn clean cuts compared to what I was expecting. Upgrading the blade I'd have no qualms in regards to building fine furniture with this saw. I love that it's light and packs down enough to take it to my work instead of my work to it. It's got a metal top which is super sturdy, guide channels are slick as butter and had no issues with accessories I've added in. I was debating on this vs the dewalt and I can 100% confidently say that I'm not going to be kicking myself in a few years wishing I had splurged more this saw feels well built. Skil has once again earned it's place in my home. ... show more

  • Great for a DIY’r. Lots of features. Easy to use. Portable. Easy to store.
Great for home & hobby use, or potentially light on-sight use for craftsmen. Great for everything I need it for as DIY’r. Super handy foldable legs. I love the rack and pinion fence… I can't tell you how nice it is not having to measure the front and back of the fence every time I cut something. It also allows for fine tuning adjustments. Other features from the description like, blade guard, anti-kickback pawl and riving knife are all really good. The dust port is excellent, especially if someone is standing on the other side of the table working with you - just point it into a bucket, or if you have it, hook a vacuum up to it. The push stick and miter gauge are ok to get you started, but not great, but they never are. The 24T blade is good enough for general cutting, probably not great for fine wood working, but serviceable. The saw itself is also pretty lightweight / portable if you need to take to a friends house or job site (it’s not a picnic to carry it, but not terrible either). Directions for setup are decent – you can do it alone, but having someone assist would be helpful. Some plastic parts that I wish were metal, but for this price, I guess that’s what you get. ... show more

  • Good Saw, Flawed Accessories
Cuts well, is portable, and does what I ask it to with no binding or loss of power. The fence is also nice and parallel out of the box. The first issue is the saw insert which is plastic and flexes when cutting smaller wood pieces, usually when cutting rabbits or dados. You can get around this usually by applying pressure strategically during the cut. The second, in my opinion biggest, issue arises during blade changes. The open-ended wrench is trash. While the metal itself seems fine, the opening is bigger than inner arbor nut, and because the saw blade was bolted on so tightly out of the box, it cut and dug into the nut, shredding and rounding it out while trying to remove it. I ended up having to break out some different wrenches and get creative in the removal. I had to replace it because it created a wobble in the blades. That got rid of the wobble, but I avoid using the included blade change tools when I can. With that stuff in mind, the saw is a good value and does everything I ask of it. ... show more
