Do not buy this lock. Immediately after installation, I was able to lock the door with the key ... but not unlock it. That's a major problem since the lock is installed on a shed door, and there's no other way in. Don't believe that there is customer service available. There's not. You can't reach them by phone and can only fill out a form on their website -- but don't expect human contact. MiLocks' customer service is *amazingly* bad. I have ordered and installed 2 of these units, specifically because the buttons have letters too (like a phone keypad), so a code can be a word rather than just a number. This kind of works, although in practice the letters are too small for my old eyes, so it is difficult to read them well enough to enter the desired word. Installation has a few tricks: 1. You are asked to select between right-hand and left-hand based on which side the hinges are on, but of course that depends on which side of the door you are on! They mean when you are on the side of the door which will have the keypad. 2. They don't explain how to adjust the latch backset (between 2 3/8" or 2 3/4"). Turns out there's a little hole, and sticking partially through is a little nubby -- press the nubby in with a screwdriver (or whatever -- it's hard to do), and then the interior mechanism will slide between the 2 sizes. 3. The back mounting plate is not symmetrical, and so will look different depending on which side of the door it is on. This is OK, except that the Step 5 picture shows the notch pointing to the edge of the door regardless of which side of the door it is on, which is wrong, and thus confusing. 4. The battery cover on the second unit was REALLY hard to remove -- much worse than the first unit, which was also somewhat hard. Keep in mind that you may need to make adjustments to the strike plate, etc, so that the deadbolt has an unencumbered entry into its hole. Otherwise it will take 2 hands to lock the door -- one hand to hold the door in the right position for the deadbolt to move properly, and the other hand to push the Lock button. There is one thing I worry about re operation: the knob is quite hard to turn -- just by itself, before even connecting it to the deadbolt mechanism. This means the batteries must work extra hard to lock/unlock the door, thus presumably shortening the lives of the batteries. ... show more

This is the absolute worst keyless locking mechanism on the market. It did not come with any keys and it locks us out of the home at least weekly. If you do not push the correct code the very first attempt it disables itself and will not unlock. I emailed the company and, of course, they put the onus on me. Stating I should change the batteries more often and punch the correct code. I recommend you not purchase this product ... show more

I purchased this lock in 3 months ago, wanted to wait for some use before reviewing. The printed instruction sheets are incomplete and difficult to follow, but I was able to find complete instructions on the manufacturer's website, there is an installation video that helped greatly and made the lock easy to install. So far it's working well, not problems with the mechanical/electrical operation, the keypad and key options both work fine. I use this lock on an Airbnb property so the code gets changed often, that process is simple to do. The only negative is that I've started to notice the buttons with the most use are looking a bit worn down and duller than the rest, which over time may make it easy for people to figure out your code if you don't change it. This is not a “smart” lock. I knew that right up front. Having said that it works exactly as it was intended. My husband installed it within 15 minutes or so. We have several lock combinations saved so if we have to give one out to somebody we can. Then we can delete that particular combination and make another one. I love the ease with which this works. When you leave just close the door firmly and push the lock button. To unlock, simply punch in your code and then push the unlock symbol. That’s it. There is one button which provides a light when you push it and it makes all the number keys light up. We love it! Now that I know I like an electronic deadbolt, the next when I purchase will probably be a “smart“ lock so I can control it with my Amazon Alexa device. ... show more

Broke shortly after installation. Just after the return window ended. The deadbolt still functions manually and with the key, but the keypad produces nothing but a loud angry whirring noise and does not lock or unlock the door. It's too fragile to be worth installing.
