The media could not be loaded. First, if you have read all of the reviews you know they are all stellar but for one review that is not. That review was in the back of my mind when I plugged it in for the first time. Oh no! Red icon. But wait… it is a touch screen. That is the “off” indicator. That is what you touch to turn it on. I read the entire manual. The only other red icon indicates that the bin is not in place. It is just waiting to be turned on or waiting for the bin to be put in place. This is not a machine for everyone. If you have mischievous pets, curious children or practical jokers in your home, these fine particles are going to be everywhere at some point. If you live alone or with one other respoonsible adult who is also security conscious and not suspicious and jealous, this is a fantastic shredder. I do not recommend this for anyone in relationship with someone with a jealous streak. I was. They would have taken one look at this thing and said, “who needs to shred so small? Someone with something to hide. Is that to shred your lies?” We are not together anymore. I digress. Great machine.

Unit appears to have been used before with bits of shredded paper in it and the screen don't work. May change rating if satisfied with a replacement unit and in a very timely manner as i needed this the day before yesterday. Based on other reviews they keep sending the same defective unit out over and over. Looks like I got it now and they are out of stock of course. UPDATE: been over a week and still no correspondence from the company who claims excellent customer service, warranty, and satisfaction. They aren't responding to multiple emails etc.

This Kitnery Micro Cut Shredder really produces micro particles of paper. It says to max at 6 pages of paper at one time. I found 4 pages works better without stopping as the paper weight makes a difference. If too much is attempted the shredder stops but you can advance it a couple of times and it goes through. I also shredded a couple of credit cards and they slip right through. I do like that it is much quieter than my previous shredder. The bin is very adequate and allowed me to place a plastic bag for the shredded paper. For home use, the shredder works great for me.

After a series of delays, I finally got my shredder today. Compared to my P-4 shredder, I can almost say it’s impossible to put it back together. Will take great concentration, luck and imagination to put it back to its original form. It’s like shredding a page with a big letter, then all it comes out is a bunch of pixel sized black and white pieces. You can pretty much put it back together as a different letter or possibly became a picture. It’s my first day having it and I don’t have a bunch of papers to shred for hours. I’ll come back to update my review if any issues arise. The CD/Credit Card slot is useless if you plan to use it to shred it so you cannot put it back together to get any printed text from it. All it does is cut it into very BIG strips which renders them unable to be used. Can be easily done with a pair of strong sharp scissors. BTW, I paid out of pocket at the price listed on Amazon and did not receive any incentive for this review. So I would definitely be back to update this if there’s any problem. No update = no issue.

Pros: unbelievably small particle size - the shredder doesn't output paper so much as it turns your paper into *dust*. Cons: overheats in about 10 minutes of continuous use (description says runs for 25 minutes) and due to the small particle size, creates a noxious odor of shredded paper, ink, toner, etc. A real indoor air quality polluter so you may to use this thing outdoors or under a powerful fume hood.
