  • Failed after 3 months.
My old thermostat start leaking, I replaced it with the Dorman 902-808 Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Assembly. After 3 months the thermostat got stuck open, and the engine won't reach to the required temp. My next step is to replaced with an OEM one. Yesterday I replaced it with another on. I posted a picture of the old one (Dorman), the buildup on the thermostat after 3 months is not acceptable. I don't recommend this at all, it is a waste of money and time. ... show more

  • Better off going with AC Delco
SUMMARY: There's a reason that this Dorman Thermostat Housing only has ~52% of reviews at 5 stars. Do yourself a favor and just avoid this one all together. I bought one of these Dorman Thermostat Housings back in March 2019 when the stock one cracked and started leaking. I heard the plastic on the Dorman unit was made better than stock and it didn't crack in the amount of time I had it installed so I guess that's a plus. However, everything else about this thermostat housing is junk. After only a couple months the sensor on the housing went bad and started throwing a check engine light. Then just recently, about 14 months after installing this unit, the thermostat went bad and my engine started overheating. I replaced this with an AC Delco thermostat housing and time will tell if it's better but the reviews here on Amazon are way better on the Delco unit. You might be thinking to yourself, "oh, well 14 months is a good amount of time for this to last. If I only have to replace it once a year that's no big deal." but if you've ever actually replaced one of these on a Chevy Sonic then you probably know that this is one of the biggest PITA parts to replace due to it's location in comparison to the turbo inlet and all of the hard AC lines that you can't just move out of the way. EDIT: 18 Months after this review my AC Delco unit has had ZERO issues. Go with the Delco and forget this Dorman unit. ... show more
