I hooked this up to my above ground pool in Texas. This will keep pool around 80 degrees through November. With a good pool cover and running it at least 8 hrs in cold weather mornings you can still swim at night comfortably around 80 degrees in late October and November. The only downside is the increase of electrical cost of about 50 dollars a month if you run the pump every other day. We usually just cover the pool the night before we want to swim and run the pump the next day to circulate through the heater. I have had this item a few months and it has never failed yet. I guess you would have to take in consideration the state you live in. I can't wait to test it in December and January because those months our weather is cold enough to see if this will still keep up. It is very heavy so you will need help moving it to your area. My husband was able to pick it up, but I could not.

This thing ROCKS!! We have a SMALL inground cocktail pool in the Texas Hill Country. Our nights can get to 50-60 degrees F in the early spring, and late fall. Causes our water temp to fall to 75 degrees by morning, and doesn't warm enough to swim comfortably. This heater allows us to extend our swimming season up to two months of either side. Seems very well engineered, and solid! The first time I turned it on, I foolishly set the temp to 100. The next day, it felt like a HOT TUB! Had to turn it off for a couple of days, LOL! Now we keep it at 86-87 F, and it is wonderful! TIP: the heater comes with a drain fitting, but no instructions on where it goes. After a few days of use, it was dumping a judicious amount of condensation on my patio area. I finally lifted it up on blocks and found the hole for the fitting, and attached a hose. Now the water goes where I want it. That said, I highly recommend this little heater!

Somewhat on the thinner side so if you’re looking for something for extreme weather, this is not it. Still a good overall cover. I’m using this in combination with a shipping blanket underneath, so it’s good enough for my location. I get about 4 hours of direct light, so it’s good enough should last me a couple of seasons. Not sure how it would hold up if it was in direct sunlight all day

Keeps pool swimming going as fall cools down (and will allow pool to be opened earlier in spring), so still able to do my laps for exercise. Also has a cooling function, handy for super hot days here in Los Angeles. Straight forward installation to filter pump, so super easy to hook unit up. Unit also has flow sensor activation/deactivation so it comes on and turns off with the filter pump timer so there is no fuss as far as its use. Customer service is excellent as well, promptly answering my emails with professional courtesy as well as to my complete satisfaction.
