After my husband read reviews how the device comes apart he put a little screw(red circle where he put screw in) in to keep that piece from pulling apart which fixed that problem but it seems that the whole handle now come apart from the rod so now he needs to put in a second screw. The detector works well and was a lot of fun! The pole comes broken. Like, there is no way to attach the pieces. So instead of returning, we used masking tape. The product is defective, though, and they shouldn't send it out when the pieces clearly have no way of connecting.

I AM WRITING TO UPDATE THIS REVIEW, BECAUSE I WAS SO TAKEN WITH HOW AWESOME THE SELLER WAS FOR CONTACTING ME ABOUT MY CONCERN AND RECTIFYING THE PROBLEM FAR BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. I simply cannot recommend this seller enough, and I wish to applaud Violet for her patience and sincere efforts to rectifying the situation for me. Not only did she go above and beyond but she gave me a choice of options to correct the situation, and she took the time to thank me for my honest feedback. This meant a lot to me and in the end my child got a new metal detector in the correct color he wanted. This made my child so incredibly happy and I am truly very thankful to the seller for all her kindness and sincere efforts to find such an outstanding solution. As for the product, it works great. As an adult, when it comes to metal detectors and other technology, color is usually not a big deal for me unless I am buying it for a special needs kiddo on the autism spectrum who has sensory processing disorder. Given that this is a child's metal detector the listing really ought to mention whether the colors are yellow, blue, or random, etc. At the time I purchased this there was no mention anywhere on the listing of any color deviation from the blue metal detector that is pictured. What I received was in the exact same branded box with the same model number on the box as the last one that I got last year. The one I receive last year was blue. This one is yellow. This was meant to be a gift for a child with special needs. Yellow just will not do. So I am returning this one for inaccurate website description and making the suggestion for Amazon or the seller to fix their website listing. ... show more

Purchased for my 10yo daughter, she loves it! Great at finding metal objects, good sensitivity! The only issue is with the extendable tube. The two tubes thread together with plastic threads, and they do hold tight so they slide freely. We solved this by putting tape on the threads to hold it tight.

Bought this for my sonโ€™s eighth birthday. Heโ€™s only used it twice because his birthday was the end of November and we live in Vermont which means snow in winter. But he did find an old bottle cap a couple inches underground. Not treasure but he he was excited that it worked. He waved it under our car and I noticed that it picked up the metal from the car above the detector. So, having only used it twice it seems to work pretty well. I will say the bag to store it in needs to be a couple inches longer. I can barely get the zipper closed once the detector is in the bag. My son tried first and thought it didnโ€™t fit. I was able to get it to work but kids will have difficulty with that. We used the little shovel to dig up the bottle cap and it worked fine. I liked that it came with tools, something I hadnโ€™t thought of. Weโ€™ll have to see how well it works summer but it seems good. Just wish the storage bag was bigger. ... show more

I bought this for my 4 year old son. I have a $700 detector. We both go to parks and farm fields hunting for relics and coins. His detector will find coins down to 3 inches or so and large iron items deeper. It's accurate at finding the exact location of the target. It seems durable too. My son's pretty rough with it and swings hard and smacks stuff. I would recommend this detector. ... show more
