As a beginner, I was not sure where to start. So I did a little research online, and decided to take my chances on this metal detector. I have used several times in my backyard and around my house. It was fairly easy to figure out and operate. Along with his purchase, I would suggest getting a pinpoint device as well. I did not unfortunately. Also get a pinpoint device so what I do is: locate a treasure, use plastic stake to mark where the metal detector is, indicating, then dig a circle around the plastic piece until I find what it is detecting. When I dig up a little piece of earth, I found it helpful to put that in a tray and scan the detector over the piece that I have dug up to see if whatever treasure I have found is in that piece of dirt. Super fun to use, and you’ll be surprised at how many things are actually around your own home under the Earth.

It was easy to set up and not too difficult to understand how to use. It takes some getting used to at first but after a little bit you will get the hang of it. I practiced with bottle caps, coins, silver coin, and a gold earring. Record all settings and readings for future use. Only reason not 5 stars is battery life is short even after trying different brands.

Didn't seem to find the quarters we tossed in the back yard, were not even buried. Tried other settings wasn't impressed. Hope when we try it again we figure it out. Not an works right away out of the box thing.

I bought this Metal Detector to find the front property pins in my yard. I was pleasantly surprised that it found my underground electrical and dog fence wires as well. I was unaware that I would receive that added bonus. I do recommend actually reading the manual and understanding the settings and what the codes mean. It will make your outings much more accurate. Wonderful, lightweight metal detector. Great Purchase.
