Within five minutes, I located the buried steel property line marking stake that necessitated this purchase. We knew that there was a steel stake marking the property line, and that it must have gotten buried over the years, because nobody knew where it was. We had a general idea, from our neighbor’s description. I bought this metal detector to locate that stake, and it worked perfectly. I’m not sure how well it would work for finding something valuable, such as gold, platinum, or silver. When I tested it on those metals, it recognized them as metal objects. But It does not have indicators for gold or platinum, specifically. It does have an indicator for silver, which worked only on a relatively large silver object, such as a sterling bread and butter plate. Set on the Jewelry finding setting, it eliminates findings of iron, and when it encounters a jewelry item made of gold, platinum, or silver, it indicates that it has found a metal object made of nickel, aluminum, zinc, or coins. Since it does not have indicators for gold or platinum, and the indicator for silver would be unreliable for a silver coin or a piece of sterling jewelry, I would use the Jewelry setting when searching for something valuable, to deselect iron. I would never go through the process of selecting specific metals, since there is no setting for gold or platinum, and the silver indicator is unreliable for small items. I doubt that I will find anything valuable with this machine, although I might give it a try. It served its primary purpose perfectly, and I can now do the landscaping project that was contingent upon finding the property line marker.

We love this new metal detector. We started with a wand and it just wasn't strong/accurate enough for what we were doing. The 6 identifiers at the top are really great too. Nails & miscellaneous, Nickle, Jewelry, Zinc, Coins and Silver. We also like how you can choose to only detect Coins, Jewelry and Silver. It's so easy to use right out of the box, but take some time to go over the instructions to learn about the tones, and LCD identifiers. Happy hunting.

The GreenRex Metal Detector worked perfectly for finding my property stakes. This was the main reason for purchasing the metal detector; however, we had our roof replaced due to hail damage and the roofers left some nails behind in the gravel driveway and yard. The GreenRex detector found all the nails! So now I’m relieved there won’t be any nails in the feet and no flat tires! The included shovel is handy to have when digging up the property stakes. I only experimented with the headset while trying out the metal detector in the house but it worked perfectly and the volume was easily adjustable. Highly recommend the GreenRex Metal Detector!
