I'm retired and was very happy to get this detector. Easy to assemble and use. This unit is complete with two 9 volt batteries and a headset and a back pack carry bag. Has a shovel with a holster and a very good handbook that is well written and even gives tips on how to scan. Very light unit that will come apart or collapse for carry. LED screen is fairly large and easy to read. Different modes and beeps at different levels so you can tell if its junk read or good by the tone heard. Can pinpoint pretty good but takes practice. Waterproof except for the control head itself so you can walk in a few feet deep of water and scan for treasure. I went to the local park to test it. Was getting readings all over the picnic grounds but they don't want me digging up the nice lawn. Need to try the beach areas. Good unit that comes ready to use right out of the box. Makes a great Christmas gift and a fun hobby that gets you outside and walking around. If you have always wanted a detector or would like to give one as a gift, and don't know anything about them, then I recommend this one. It checks all the boxes and its a good price. ... show more

This is my first metal detector and I love it! Very easy assembly and everything you need to start using it is included in the box. This is a really nice unit with so many options to filter out unwanted metals. The 10" head will detect to around 10" deep depending on conditions and soil type. It comes with the headphones which will extend your battery life vs using the built in speaker. It also came with a digging trowel and carry case you can put on your belt. Once you have detected something you can use the pin point function to really narrow down your dig area and the depth gauge will give you a rough idea how far you might need to dig. The design of this detector makes one handed operation possible with the armrest and strap being used. The backlit screen means you can even use it in low light or night conditions although this will considerably shorten your battery life. It takes 2 9 volt batteries so it makes sense to go ahead and carry a couple of spares with you when you go treasure hunting. Good luck and have fun! ... show more

This detector comes in a very smart and shiny box with a lot of bright orange in the graphics. It looks like it would be good as a gift. But that was the high point. There is a full color instruction booklet but although it went into a lot of detail I still didn't feel confident after I had read it. When you assembling all the parts there is an impression of cheap junky parts that are slightly ugly with shabby surfaces. When you put the PP3 type batteries into the cavity in the control unit they go in very tightly with a creaking breaking sound and don't sit very snugly. But the most difficult feature to accept is the sound output. When I switched it on for the first time (inside sitting at my desk) there was a sudden and very unpleasant beep. I thought I would calm it down by using the headphones but that was a mistake. The ghastly collection of beeps and squeaks just about blew my head off. It is very unclear which beep is telling something at a system level and which beep indicates metal. There is a volume control that only allows for three sound pressure levels. Worse still they rotate so you can't just go down in volume you must suffer the high volume to get back to the lower volume. The lowest volume is still deafening. It needs some sort of resistor or whatever in the headphone cable to reduce the level. I tested it outside and the sound level was more practical. I threw a steel washer on the ground and tried to "find" it. It beeped every time I passed over it but there is a slight delay so it is important to swing not too fast. With a slow sweep it could pinpoint it every time. I help out at a vegetable farm and we occasionally lose hand tools in the beds. They are discovered years later in a badly rusted state. Had my first chance to use this the other day and it works for sure. We have a property we are remodeling that we have been struggling to find the septic system and I used this to help locate it (the rebar in the lids). It did the trick, it beeps, has different tones for different metals and shows on the screen as well. The battery drained rather quick but that is with the cheaper batter it came with so not sure if a better battery would be the same. It has extra features that I haven't fully figured out yet but overall it does what's its suppose to, and its rather sensitive. More sensitive than I expected it to be, I ended up digging up a ton of bottle and can tops. ... show more

This metal detector comes with it's own carry bag, as well as a digging tool and it's own carrying case, headphones, two 9v batteries and of course the metal detector. The instructions were very easy to understand and get this set up. The batteries didn't last too long (which is okay I have my own rechargeables to do it). I went around my property since the ground is all dug up from building a house and found a few random metal pieces and a few coins. Worked accurately. Is lightweight and I'm very happy with this.     • After 3 plus hours jut could not get this to function correctly
User instructions can be confusing and include more detail on how to use I tried twice, with about 3 hours of my time to get this to work with expected results but even pointing this over the carpet t home this would be tripping audio alarms and that is with adjusting the sensitivity down to the lowest level Then tried outside on lawn, placed a penny, nickel, dime and quarter spread around on top of lawn Set to different metal types would not get constant results, other than with a quarter that of course is larger than the other coins I then buried the penny like only 2 inches down, then covered with dirt Made several passes over and around where penny was and again no constant results and never reporting as a penny This is not light in weight, swaying it around for some time clearly has an effect to some pain in the shoulder down to the wrist ... show more
