    • Great First Metal Detector
Not bad for the price! It has quite a few features and isn’t just a cash-grab like you’d find at a toy store. This actually works! I was immediately finding all sorts of objects in the backyard and my wife is in love with it! Some of the modes are incredibly useful. You can switch it from the normal seeking mode which will beep as it detects metals or to a hotspot mode that will get louder as you near metal. You can set this mode to certain metals and that makes searching for higher value metals very easy. You will find far fewer nails and screws with this feature. Out of the box you get the detectors rod parts, a bag, instruction/guide, arms strap, headphones, small shovel, and some batteries. Assembly is pretty easy it's just snapping the poles and screwing on the arm pad. Using the detector is easy although sometimes it's hard to discern pings even after tuning it. I will say this is a decent starter detector for someone new to the hobby. Prolonged use I do see this having some issues or if you're looking to get a little more pro you're gonna want an upgrade. All in all give it a go if you're looking to dip your toe into detecting or want something new for a kid to try out. ... show more

    • This actually works and detects metals.
~~Pros~~ + It comes with everything you need to get started. A carrying bag, two 9V batteries, a small folding shovel, and cheap headphones. + It accurately detects metals in the ground. We’ve found things 4-6 inches deep. + The pinpoint mode is awesome. Once you detect something, then you slowly rescan the area and when you’re close it helps you zero in on the exact location, so no digging around in a general area. + The instructions are easy to understand and you will NEED to read them to make sure you understand the finer points of how to use this. + I like that it can tell you what it is you’ve found. That’s pretty awesome. ~~Cons~~ - There is no volume control. It is louder than I like. I’ve never done metal detecting before, but this will be a lot of fun in the months and years to come. ----- Diamond's Star Rating System (What do my star ratings mean?): 1 STAR - Completely unusable, would request a refund 2 STAR - Meets minimum viable product requirements, wouldn't purchase it again 3 STAR - It does what it should, but in a non-spectacular way, I may recommend it, but definitely with reservations 4 STAR - I like it.     • Works pretty dang good.
I bought this to play around in the back 40 of my yard. Not expecting much, but figured why not. I found a few screws and some bottle caps, but nothing of any value. It takes some time to get to know they unit and how to read what it is telling you on the display and the beeps. I needed to mark my in-ground sprinkler heads for an upcoming aerate and overseed, and even after butchering the lawn down to 2 inches, I still couldn't find them, AND I KNOW WHERE THEY ALL ARE! haha. Anyway, I remembered I had this detector and within minutes, I had each one marked. It worked great locating all my heads and the main water shut off which is smack dab in the center of my front yard. Lightweight and works good. Small learning curve, but that on me, not the unit. I am looking forward to seeing what's in the rest of my yard! Haha. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. First, let me state that I am a novice who has never used a metal detector but has always wanted to. Assembly was a bit challenging until I skipped the confusing instructions and just used the picture of the assembled product. I'm 6'3" and this has no problem reaching the ground. The extension bars were great for my height. It comes with a carry case, collapsible shovel for unearthing your treasures, and a pair of headphones. My biggest challenge is in interpreting the results. It beeps at all kinds of things and shows a picture of a screw quite often. It does display a number that gives a range for what type of metal it is detecting but I still need to learn those. There's a helpful chart in the instructions. I set it to coins mode and was a bit disappointed. I had a penny, nickel, and dime. It often told me the penny was 5c, the nickel was 1c, and the dime was 25c. However, once I switched it to precision mode, it was crazy accurate with identifying the exact location of each coin. I uploaded a video to show what I mean. Overall, this is a very cool metal detector and I can't wait to get a little more experience with it. ... show more

This metal detector set is a great option for beginners. I love the carry bag that comes with it. It has options like jewelry, coins, all metals, etc. You also have the option to turn the backlight on or off on the screen. I turned the unit on and right away it told me it was detecting a screw or nail in my flooring. The only cons I've seen is that the assembly instructions aren't very clear and the arm strap isn't long enough to hold my short arm in the holder so I will need to add a longer Velcro piece. ... show more

For the price, I wasn’t sure what I’ll get, I took the chance. I looked forward to seeing what this unit does, I wasted no time assembling and trying it out in my back yard. I know where there is metal in my back yard, out for the test. It does kind of give you a less quality feel to it.
