    • Love Meross Products, But Homekit Support Isn't What It Use To Be

I've pretty much moved to buying Meross and Aqara products to use with my Homekit Home. Meross light switches have been some of my favorite purchases since moving into our new house and I purchased this set of wall plugs for Christmas decorations inside. But after updating to iOS 16 the setup for Homekit has gotten frustratingly worse. Before you'd simply just scan the setup code in the Home app and it would pair up and connect the device, took no longer than 2 minutes. Now it's gotten more complicated. I had to get ahold of customer support to find out how to connect these. As of writing this you have to use the Meross app and set it up as a non-Homekit device and then you can add it to Homekit after you've done that. Issue is you can't just add it to the Meross app, you have to reset the device, then wait at least 15 minutes so you can connect to the device through Wi-Fi, otherwise it'll try to set it up as a regular Homekit device again, which won't work, and then after that you can add it to the Meross app and then finally through the Home app. I'm not sure if it's Meross or Apple to blame for complicating things with the setup process but hopefully it gets fixed in the near future. Once you get it set up it works perfectly fine, haven't had any issues with them losing connection and they're pretty quick to respond when used. Overall it's a great product. ... show more

So, just like all products there’s good and bad. The bad, doesn’t want to set up with a dual band router unless you disable the 5gig first. Sometimes that works; other times it doesn’t. It is a bit large and as others have said, you’re not going to use two of these on the same duplex receptacle. The good, the app—save a small quirk—works great. On iPhone, so no Android experience, it can be set up as a widget. Have it integrated into Alexa and can control with voice. Don’t care for Apple Home, most of the time my devices fail to communicate with Home. If you must use Home, I’d suggest looking elsewhere; not sure who is at fault for this problem. Now for that quirk i mentioned…a NEMA 5-15R receptacle can be installed with the ground up or down. The app controls the device as if it is ground up. This means if your outlets are ground down that the app will control your physical right outlet with the left control on the app. Now the app allows you to name individual outlets on the multi-outlet devices so it’s not a major issue, but be aware. ... show more

It's decent value for money and ability to have two separately controlled outlets out of one port is not bad. I was able to integrate it seamlessly w/ Apple Home Kit but could not connect it to Smart Life app in which I have all my other smart things connected. I like that app because it's free and allows nice automation and scenes. Also, there are many issues so I'll be returning them. 1) I connected both units to my Apple Home app. They worked together for a while. But three times in a row now, one of them drops out. I reconnect and the same thing. I am not sure if this is a defective unit or if it's some problem with their firmware that is messing up more than one unit connected. It may even be a Homekit problem. The fact is, I can't use more than one unit. So, it defeats the purpose 2) Homekit doesn't offer any automation without additional accessories. You can manually control it but again without automation and scenes, it's not as useful 3) I was unable to add two of these on a 2-gang outlet. While it's true that you get two independent smart outlets from a single home outlet, it's only working when you install them at two different locations. They are just a tad too wide to fit two of them at one outlet. So, it's not working for my use case, and will return it. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

I have many single plugs that date back before the apple home integration. Since then, the single smart plugs are more difficult to assimilate into my system, but these doubles have been THE most difficult. That said, once in, they work fine. I like Meross and these smart switches but they have gotten glitchy and these doubles are the glitchiest of them all. ... show more

I read lots of review and was a mix feeling. However must of them was good reviews so I ordered mainly because Apple Home support. I am not into Alexa or any of this devices so that extra feature is not a plus for me. Anyways the fact that it had an app of its own was the key for me. It is true Apple home on device only works when connected on the same wifi not over celular data but the fact is the Meross app takes over that emissive flawlessly and enough for you to do all you need and more. The schedule time on/off M thrust S is nice. Overall is a great product let’s see how long they last :) Another thing is not so easy to setup but one important key, make sure to delete any VPN app ans turn off Celular signal leaving only the 2.4 mghz wifi connection in your device. I went nuts trying to pair and was my iPhone trying to connect to VPN. Until by exhaustion I figure out. You can imagine :) Once setup is simply great to be able to know if you forgot something on or off. I mainly have lots of servers and often I want to know if power shit down servers or internet so I setup the outlets on second internet to check power on server. Don’t do like me setup the outlier on the same router you will turn off by pressing off in your app, you will never get it back on because it will be offline :) Business environment lots going on but with a bit of figuring and mapping things the outlier did all I wanted.
