  • New account?
I thought I could just add it to my Home or SmartThings. No. You have to have a Meross account. I’m tired of having so many accounts and stuff tracking me. I just want simple home on/off stuff. Why do I need a Meross account, but not for all my other devices. Ridiculous. Returned 2.

  • No Luck with Setup
I noticed that some customers were complaining about setup difficulties with this product, but thought I'd take a chance since I'm fairly tech-savvy. So far I've invested about 6 hours trying to get it to work, without success. My router is broadcasting 2.4 Ghz (and only 2.4 Ghz) WiFi, and I'm running iOS 14.4, per the manufacturer's requirements. I began by following their exact instructions, as included with the product, but was never able to get Apple Home to install the device (Unable to Connect). I then tried a number of alternate approaches suggested by various users on the internet, none of which was ultimately successful. The device does appear in my WiFi setup, and is recognized by both Apple Home and the Meross app, but I'm unable to complete the setup in Home. On one try the Meross app allowed me to add the device in Apple Home and even turn the two outlets on and off (I could hear them clicking). Unfortunately, this only worked while connected directly to the device's WiFi; when I switched over to my router's WiFi, Home could no longer find the device. I really wanted this to work. I tried contacting Meross support, first using the Contact Us on their website, and then by sending an email to their recommended support address, but never received a reply. So, sadly, I guess I'll be returning this to Amazon and looking for another solution. My advice is to be prepared for a difficult, and perhaps impossible setup if you decide to give this product a try. ... show more

  • Wait for product redesign, not ready for prime time.
Two outlets? - One button. It is either on or off, so if you have a pond pump and patio lights, they are always either on or off together, cant have one without the other using the button switch. The outlets can be addressed separately in the app, but the purpose of the button is to let user control electric if they do not have a smartphone in their hand. Better design would have had a three-press switch - e.g. Both On, A On, B On, Both Off Frankly that is the way most flashlights/torches work now: dim, brighter, brightest with a single button switch. - The outlets are too close together! Meross used a 7/8 inch 3 prong plug, and two of them would fit fine. Unfortunately, most outdoor, weatherized 3 prong plugs are 1 & 1/8 wide. They saved 25 cents in parts and made it practically useless in a yard. Returning and will wait for version 2. ... show more

  • Easy to set up and sync. Works great!
I was worried that the plug wouldn't function very well because the wifi outside of my house can be spotty. I was pleasantly surprised that everything worked without a problem. As with the other meross products, synching the device with Amazon Alexa was easy and straightforward. The only issue I had, which is entirely on my end, was the firmware did not update when it was connected to the wifi outside. I moved the plug inside, so the signal would be stronger, updated the firmware, and moved the plug back outside where it continues to work just fine. So my suggestion would be to set up and synch the plug where your signal is stronger and then move it outside, keeping in mind that it still needs a wifi signal to operate correctly. ... show more

  • Set up easily, works well with Apple Homekit
It took me perhaps seven minutes to get this set up to control some outdoor lights. You use your smartphone to set it up. The two sockets are individually controlled and offer a lot of power for the money. Both can be actuated manually via smartphone app, or via your home automation platform. Ours is an Apple household, so I used my iPhone to set it up and connect it to our house's HomeKit hub (an Apple TV) for secure Internet accessibility and programmability. Apple Homekit allowed me to set up an automation so that one of this unit's sockets (in our case, running some outdoor lights) turns on every evening at sunset, adjusting automatically for the season and Daylight Savings Time. The socket is then set to automatically turn off at 10:30 each night. The second socket we'll use for Christmas lights. This replaces a high-end outdoor timer that was always getting screwed up by power failures and of course the beginning and ending of Daylight Savings Time. (It was "high end" in the sense that it's a model meant to last more than 18 months, which cheaper timers don't, in my experience.) The old timer is located in a really inconvenient place, so the remote controllability and programmability (via HomeKit) of this device really addresses a lot of frustrations! Physically, it's just a sturdy AC cord with a plug on one end and the socket assembly on the other. It's not heavy and is meant to simply hang off a wall outlet. No mounting is required. Recommended! If any troubles develop, I'll update this review. Based on first impressions, it's a solid five stars. ... show more

  • Terrific HomeKit SmartPlug
After some disappointing experience with Meross' indoor smart plug (MSS110) I was very skeptical about their outdoor smart plug (MSS620). But after some time with this device I have to say it works well and without the concerns the indoor model raised. The best thing about this device - it has two outlets which you can control independently! It is your choice if you want to show them within HomeKit as one or two separate outlets - perfect. Installation works easy via the HomeKit app and didn't cause any issues to add the WiFi - even in a mixed 2.4/5GHz setup. I did not use the Meross app for any part of the setup, also didn't create an account with them - their app I only use to check for the firmware update, which can be done without registering with Meross (#privacy). This model did have minimal voltage leak on the outlet in the off position - only 0.8 volts, barely any current. That is a big difference from their indoor model which had ~17-19 volts across multiple devices I tested. Only downside at this point is that the device is on WiFi and not running on Thread - but I'll look out for it's successor ;-) ... show more
