Because of wrist issues the manual crank models were no fun. This electric unit does it quickly and can hold almost a full skein of yarn (I’ve removed the big spool, pulled other loose end out and made small spools off of full skeins.) and now my yarn doesn’t do the flip flop as I work.

I have both ball winners, but this one seems to be a little harder to get used to. I have used only manual winders. The problem I have with this is yarn comes off when it’s spinning I even flung a ball across the room. Could just be user error. I’m gonna keep it and keep working with it.

Putting it together was a little tricky. The plastic holes seemed to be drilled a little off and crooked. A battery run screw driver helped once I set the screws straight. The first yarn I wove was loose. I had to figure out that tightening the tension plus using my hand to guide it, after that I went through and did a bunch of my yarn into cakes. Much easier than hand making into balls.

This item arrived damaged and obviously used. I’m taking a chance on sending it back for a replacement with a new one. We’ll see how that goes. Very disappointing.

I received this today and since I'm sick with a cold, so I decided to try this. It works fantastic. I have so many different skeins of yarn and no room to store them so I decided to make cakes for easier storage. I have a manual winder but it gets tough on the arm and the wrist. This is a game changer . The reason why I gave it a 4 is it is made kind of cheaply.
