  • Better than it's predecessor
Style: Triangle
So as someone who owns both the original and this one I liked both of them. Both are a dual illuminated optic with no magnification. The dual illumination is first during daylight or in brightly lit areas a fiber optic illumination which is quite bright and works pretty well. The second part of the dual elimination is a tritium vial that through a small mirror using reflection causes the etched reticule to Glow in low light environments. Known issues with both of these that I have experienced is if you are in a dark environment looking out into a bright environment the ridicule itself can be difficult to see. This is not the optics fault and it is not something that is only a problem mepro light faces but is the nature of the technology itself. If you truly need to shoot from a dark environment (aka inside a shed or house) out into a bright environment, the ridicule itself is etched and you can still utilize that I'll be it with a very dim illumination. It won't glow. You can also just shoot straight through the window and typically get your rounds somewhat on Target. For 1X no magnification the beauty of this and its predecessor is that there are no batteries required no shake awake needed no maintenance other than general cleaning and my experience has been that they are almost entirely 100% zeroed for most rifles to 100 yd already. They both do allow adjustment at one quarter MOA per turn for both windage and elevation. Build quality itself is excellent for both and for what they provide I would buy them again. This one takes less space on a rail and solves a few of the problems the first one had but both are high quality ... show more

  • Buyer beware....
Style: Bullseye 3.5/40
I thought I did enough research before buying this expensive red dot, but I guess not. I'm my opinion, it's definitely not bright enough, and the whole wash out thing is actually a thing. With the work I do, specially night shift work, I would not recommend this product. There are definitely better, and cheaper, options out there. I would not recommend this at all. And.... unfortunately, this product was "not returnable". That's on me, but yeah.... This is just an honest review about a product. ... show more

  • Amazing quality product!!!
Style: Triangle
Coupled this with mmx4 its the best! The triangle or dot is very sharp. Easy to install or remove. Fits perfectly in the rail. Just add the polarizer and flashguard kit/light module kit. Fixes the washout problem. Built like a tank and its battle tested. No maintenance and worry about changing batteries. Its ready to use 24/7. Its always on. ... show more

  • reticle color
Style: Triangle
My only complaint is the reticle doesn't come in green, and my astigmatism makes the red blurry without my glasses. You WILL experience washout on the reticle if your objective is in a brighter area (i.e. you're inside looking out), but if youre aware of that you can mitigate the issues it may cause. At night, the optic is very, very dim, but again, knowing that, one can mitigate the issue. ... show more

  • Loving this
Style: Bullseye 3.5/40
Excellent. Just that. Excellent. No batteries, durable, with an adjustable mounting clamp.

  • Inferior to M21
Style: Bullseye 3.5/40
This product is well built but barely usable in bright conditions. Even with the polarizer (extra money), the device looks clunky and still delivers subpar quality that is far below cheaper offers from other companies. While I have been a fan of the brand and their products this is likely the last piece of Meprolight hardware I ever purchase. Avoid if you can. Mine is now past the return date mainly because I wanted it to work and threw more money at it by buying the polarizer as well... My loss one time, their loss forever. ... show more

  • It's not what you think.
Style: Triangle
I'm writing a review about this fiber/tritium powered red dot because I think a lot of average Joes misunderstand this or don't get the full picture. It's almost inevitable that the first time you use it you'll be sitting inside some building, looking out a window and then think, "Well the $49 Chinesium brown dot is brighter than this thing!" Few could be blamed for the impulse to just pack it back up and return it. So here's a couple of things. I'll try and keep it short. My first suggestion would be to get a good magnifier to pair this with, like the MMX4. The moment you do, washout inside buildings will go from 30% of the time to about 2% of the time. This still doesn't solve the un-magnfied washout but it will eliminate a big chunk of your problems. Second, I would suggest that unless the entire landscape is covered in snow, that you will have dark spots you can zero in and then, once you find the reticle, walk it over to your target. Not advisable in combat but again, you're whittling down the issues. Third, I would humbly suggest that you ask yourself just how much time you will spend shooting out of buildings or shaded spots into full sunlight, within 40 yards or less where magnification is not advisable. If that's your job then you've got an armorer who can kit you out with something else and you don't need this thing. If you're a civilian who has that specific requirement, uh, you're weird bro. But yeah, if your a guy who loves to hunt his 300 acre ranch from his bathroom window then you might want something else. Lastly, it has been relayed to me that in Israel this guy along with the MMX4 is currently being used in active combat. Any civilian who has serious misgivings about this red dot should ask themselves why a Tier 1 army would use thousands of these in active operations despite what seems a fatal flaw. And before you say that the M21 is the one being used, no bud, this is being issued now as well. And anyway, I've tried both and this one is way better than the M21. I do worry about whether it will end up being as tough as its predecessor but only time will tell that. This is the price of buying bleeding edge stuff (as of the writing of this post in early May, 2024.) Alright, I bought it because I get Eotech or Acog quality with Holosun prices. This is for rucking in the desert badlands in the winter snow during hunting trips, 50 miles from the nearest place selling batteries. It's for grid down scenario where 100% of batteries are gone within 9 months of whatever happened. It's for having a do-it-all type of rig, not a DMR or SPR or any one of those specialized 'do only one thing well' type of setups. I think this will work very well for me. I can tell you that it's very light, very simple and from what I heard, tough as nails even in active war zones. Btw, I did not get this on here. Found it locally at the same price and I could just walk out of the store right then and there so I chose to do that. The magnifier however came from Amazon. ... show more
