  • Great Buy! Affordable, Functional, Pretty, and Easy to Use!
I'm adding to my camera arsenal and this power pack is working great so far! It fits perfectly with my Sony a6000 with sigma 16mm and 56mm lenses attached. Unlike other reviews I found my fit extremely snug with no wiggle room! It allows me to shoot for much longer periods of time and it doesn't drain my batteries when it is turned off properly! It is extremely easy to use and attach to my camera. It also gives my camera a more professional look and function. My camera looks like a legit full-body camera now, which gives my clients more confidence. The vertical shutter is activated by plugging in the cable to the side of the camera and it works great! Great for portrait photo versatility and the grip itself is very ergonomic and comfortable in hand. Another random pro is that it helps make my camera more top-heavy when using with my Neewer stabilizer. I couldn't properly balance my camera on my stabilizer at first because it was too light-weight, but once I added the battery grip, it helped out a lot! Love this thing. Do it! Sony doesn't offer battery packs for the a6000 so this is the way to go in my opinion. ... show more

  • Best Grip Overall
The battery grip feels amazing and nice and heavy when you put the batteries in (feels like it is worth top quality). Don’t leave the battery grip on if your camera is off. Power off camera first, wait a few seconds for camera to complete shut off, then turn off grip. Doesn’t drain batteries, in my experience. I use this for 3-4 hour long photoshoots. And still has battery. Just be very confident and take care of it. Works great with the button on vertical grip. Cord could be turned around. And the dummy battery goes inside the camera. This reduces over heating! Perfect because since I got the grip, it has never over heated! ... show more

  • Great feel, a few quirks
I was immediately impressed with the feel of this grip. It's lightweight but doesn't feel cheap. The cover material is nice and grippy, and the shape of it really improves the ergonomics of the A6400 - particularly when shooting in portrait orientation. It tightened up well, and I had no problems with the connections. So I really wanted to like it. But there are two flaws - one is somewhat minor, but the other is a deal-breaker. As others have mentioned, it significantly slows down the start-up time of the camera... so much so that you start to wonder if the batteries are depleted. That would be a problem if you need to power up and get off a quick shot, but it's something I could probably accept. The other problem, though, is much worse in my book. With the battery grip connected, the camera will not remember any changes in settings (focus mode, ISO, etc.) if the camera is turned off. They all revert back to what they were when the grip was first attached that session. So if I'm shooting a football game and gradually keep changing settings as the light changes, I have to completely redo them every time the camera is turned off and back on. That is extremely impractical to the point of being a deal-breaker for me. I contacted the manufacturer almost two weeks ago, but I still haven't heard back from them (which I suppose says something about Meike's customer service, but that's another issue altogether). If you're just planning to use this as a grip but not use the extra shutter release, then you could just choose not to connect the power at all and will probably be very happy with the grip itself. Like I said, it feels great on the camera. Or if you don't tend to make changes in settings during a long session, then the problem I'm having might not be an issue for you. So it's not complete junk by any means. But for me, at least, this flaw is enough to make me return the item. UPDATE: Meike finally responded to my inquiry and provided an acceptable solution to the settings problem. Even though the included instructions specifically say to turn off the battery grip before turning off the camera, the solution they sent me was to use the camera's power switch not the one on the grip. And it works. So I'm changing my rating to 4 stars. The slow start-up is still an issue, so I don't think it's a 5-star product. But it is still very good. ... show more

  • Enhances the experience!
I have recently discovered these battery grips for my sony alpha cameras, and while I loved their small form factor, my hands would fatigue quickly on long days of shooting. With these battery grips, I'm now re-discovering the joys of long shooting days with these mirrorless bodies. This Meike is a good example of affordability for value, and the quality is really quite good! It has a nice grip to it, similar to the camera, and feels well built. The cable functions well. The shutter release on the grip isn't 100% perfect at half-press, but works nicely. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Game changer for photo shoots. Works with A6400
I am not a professional but I do photo shoots for friends and family. I have been wanting a vertical grip like this one for a while and have been reluctant to pull the trigger on this one because of the relatively low price tag, thinking it would be cheap or not work correctly. I was totally wrong however because I used it for the first time today with no problems at all (1000+ shots). This makes shooting with a heavy flash on top of your camera so much easier and having two batteries in the grip allowed me to leave the camera on for long periods of time as I'm used to turning it on and off to save battery life. The grip is quite large and is a very nice addition for these small framed cameras. Overall I'm very impressed by this product especially for how inexpensive it is. ... show more

  • Here's how to solve the battery draining problem
1. Do NOT use the battery pack connector (refer to the images). 2. Insert spare batteries on the grip. 3. Plug the cord that connects the camera and the battery pack. 4. Turn on the battery pack and shoot vertically with the shutter in the pack! Yay! (Remember that you don't have to replace the battery inside your camera, replace it when it's drained with the spare batteries you have in the grip. This way it won't drain ALL three batteries. I love this product, it makes my camera look professional and not like a digicam! It works well too! One person even asked me if it's a vintage camera because it looks big and professional like a vintage camera. My camera is a Sony A6000. The materials feel good and doesn't feel cheap at all. Would recommend! My A6000 friends suddenly wanted one too! ... show more
