My husband and I finally bought this after a friend suggested it and now we're wondering why we didn't buy one sooner!! We have 4 kids ages 12 years thru 8 months and we have a suburban and have always just packed it down when we went on vacation. This led to kids cramped and stuff piled everywhere so this was a real game changer!!! Could seriously kick our tails for waiting this long! It was easy to put on, sturdy, bag is waterproof so if it rains your stuff will not get wet and it holds sooooo much stuff. We had 2 suitcases, bag with about 12 beach towels, 2 bags of toys, pool floats and other items piled on this thing and the bag zipped up perfectly and we secured it with the straps that are included. Our stuff didn't budge the whole 6 hour trip! Once at the resort, we unloaded our stuff and my husband took this off and stored it in our room easily to save space in the parking garage. We own a 2020 Buick encore GX. Carrier works and suits the purpose, but the mounts DO NOT line up just right. Also, I had to fabricate spacers to get the brackets tight. The factory crossbars are too thin for this model to tighten up. Gear wise, there’s lots of room and we had no issues packing everything inside the bag. Ran into some light rain but nothing really heavy to test the weatherproofing. I did use silicone on all joints to try and mitigate any rust forming. Excellent. Great job MeeFar. This product was essential for a recent move across the country. I was able to put it together by myself (53, female) without help. Surprisingly easy. Rained three of the four day drive and everything inside stayed bone dry. Almost too many accessories provided. Only used 3 of the straps and the elastic stretch net. Was perfect for my 2020 Ford Escape. The hitch stabilizer is a must, you may want to buy a cheap set of wrenches and keep them with your spare tire to help install/uninstall it. ... show more

    • Good rack for the price paid

This rack comes with a water-resistant luggage protection bag, a cargo net, and two ratcheting straps. I liked the spacing of the bars on the bottom compared to others I saw. The metal is hardened steel and strong, the only weakness I saw was the screws used to fasten the three sections together. I used a 3/16” drill bit and drilled all the way through the tubes and then inserted 10-32 stainless steel bolts and nylon locking nuts in the four places that hold the three sections together. I then cut off any protruding bolt beyond the nut for a smooth surface. This made it much stronger. I also put silicone sealer in each tube before inserting them into each other to ensure water did not get inside the tubing. I am very happy with the completed assembly. I knocked off one star due to the small screws instead of bolts to hold the three sections together. ... show more

UPDATE: I spoke with Daniel from customer service and he made sure to make things right! He gave me the option to replace or keep the rack for a partial refund. I opted to keep it since I’m able to refinish it myself! Thank you for your quick response and giving A + customer service! I received this rack already scratched and scuffed up. After one trip to the OBX it’s now rusted. The manufacturer does have direction in the box on how to “rust proof” which involves buying a can of plastic dip. I shouldn’t have to rust proof anything, it should be rust proof straight from the manufacturer. I’m giving it three stars because the luggage bag is actually decent. ... show more

We ran out of space in our SUV for tent camping so we decided to buy this trailer hit storage unit. It allowed us to put a grill, propane tank, water jugs and other bulky items inside. Pretty easy to assemble although the instructions aren’t great. The bag and straps it came with are very sturdy and nice. Load rode great and wasn’t even noticeable it was attached. Sturdy, decent looking and can hold quite a bit of stuff. Also allows us to still open the hatchback on the SUV without removing so we thought it was a smart purchase for a good value. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Update: The company responded immediately and sent us a new bag for our carrier in a timely fashion for our next trip. As it turned out, we had too many items to fit so we needed up getting a small U-Haul trailer. We’re about to embark again (this time from CO to SE USA - it’s a long story) and will definitely be using the rooftop bag this time, as we will be leaving some things behind. So we’ll see how it performs. Hoping it holds up! Original review: We took our MeeFar across the Rockies twice. The first trip was in snow and rain in April and it did amazingly well. Nothing got wet or ruined. Every time we passed another vehicle with one we felt like we were part of an “in the know” group of travelers. But then we drove back in July. And the wind ripped it to shreds. It pulled off one the tie-downs from its seams. The bag was absolutely peppered with holes, and then contents inside the bag were, too. It was a HUGE mess in there. What happened? Why did the bag rip in so many places? I have no idea. The weather was actually better on the second trip. In sum, the bag performed great once, and that was it. Would love a new bag. I’d give it another try. Will update my review if the company reaches out with a replacement. Otherwise I might suggest a hard-sided carrier. We had a lot of hopes and it was a big investment for only one trip. ... show more
