nice charcoal smoker/grill. i have done six cooks on it. everything turned out great. great charcoal and wood flavor. really nice concept with the charcoal hopper right there if you need to add charcoal or wood chunks. very accurate temps and never went more and 2-3 degrees up or down. heats up quickly and maintains desired temps that you select. cleanup is not bad as i use a mini shop vac to vaccum up the dust. as with all grills a certain amount of maintence is required and this is no different. biggest thing is the assembly as alot of people have mentioned. but once assembly is complete it is very sturdy and solid. i have been using my pellet grill and will continue but i did miss the charcoal and that offset flavor you get it. the grill not very big but the 546 inches of grilling space is more than adequate for a family of four. 12 burgers, 2 chickens, a brisket and a boston butt is plenty for us so space for us is perfect. i would reccomend the LSS.com bigger ash pan mod for this grill. the small ash pan included with this grill will not hold the amount of ash that will be be created with the grill especially for long cooks. overall i am very pleased with my purchase and would buy again! .....edit.... i've done about a dozen more cooks on the 545 since my original review including country style ribs, st louis style ribs, chicken wings, and beef ribs. this grill/smoker is amazing! i am more impressed the more i use it. start at 250 and in about 2 minutes i will be searing whatever i am cooking at 600 degrees. and when i use my grill grates i am well over 700 degrees. thank you masterbuilt! ... show more

    • Worked great at first....
This was the best grill I've ever owned until it started being off with the temp, which got worse after every session. The grill now is 200° off and wifi has stopped working. Reached out to masterbuilt, they responded quickly asking for my model number which I provided... now crickets. I've emailed a few more times with no response. I can't recommend this grill with such poor customer service. Update... it's been a month with no response 😕 ... show more

I waited until I had used this grill a few times to write the review. For the price this is a fantastic grill. It works exactly as described in many on line videos and I'm very pleased with it. Assembly was time consuming, but everything fits it's just that there's so much to it. However, once done, you don't have to do it again, just buy some charcoal and enjoy. The app connected quickly and once linked with wifi, connects as soon as I plug it in. It's an interesting cross between a regular charcoal grill and a smoker and functions well as either. Bought as a quick and easy alternative to my bigger smokers. Good for a couple racks of ribs or a batch of burgers. Temp is fairly stable but heat is uneven in the chamber. Pretty easy to assemble by myself, start on a table. Just needed a bit of help with the main part getting it from the box to the table. Only downside is the charcoal in the box will all burn down after shutdown. Bought a bucket with seal to toss unburnt briquets for next cook. ... show more

I think this grill is a really novel idea, it fit a niche for what I was looking for: occasional BBQ, also “hot & fast” grilling. I had my grill assembled by Amazon, and I can’t tell if it was missing parts from this or missing parts from Masterbuilt, but there were a lot of missing parts on my grill on critical items. Masterbuilt was very helpful in getting me my parts, but I did have to go back in two separate occasions as I found more missing parts. Perhaps they need better QC in packing. My Amazon assembly experience left a lot to be desired. First they really tried to not have me do it and refund me, but they begrudgingly did it, and hauled away my old grill. Finally, the whole reason I bought this: the BBQ. It comes great. I’m not a pitmaster but im impressed with the cooking, it wows my friends, and I look forward to experimenting more with different cuts. I would buy this product, but I maybe would buy it to arrive the day before a party, in case you’re missing components. ... show more

The Masterbuilt autoignite is very interesting automated charcoal grill, you can do low and slow smoking and hot and fast grilling. The grates are cast iron and it does hook up easily to WiFi. The autoignite does require starting cube's that Masterbuilt sells, but you just place it in the auto ignite slide and it automatically starts the cube so no match’s or torch required. You can use either charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal and it produces allot of smoke. Assembly took about an hour and they do offer a cover for it. ... show more

Falling apart after a year. Will not start anymore….the plastic moulding is cracking…paint has chipped and now is rusting. Purchased the additional protection by Asurion and Asurion does not do anything with the claims. If you buy the grill do not buy the additional coverage as it will be even more money you will be out. Amazon is no help, Masterbuilt has been no help, nor has Asurion. So frustrated at this point. ... show more
