I got this one particularly because I am the year of the snake. But, honestly? I’m super impressed with this machine. It’s lightweight, quiet, and doesn’t vibrate much at all. The grip feels comfortable even after a few hours, and the wireless battery pack lasts a solid 6–8 hours before needing a charge. This is perfect if you’re just getting started, still in school, or want a solid backup machine that doesn’t cost $700+. For the price, it honestly punches way above its weight.

I will qualify this review by saying that I myself am not a professional. I did have a family member who is a pro try out this machine, and they agreed that it was a pen that rose to the level of one they would use in their rotation. Mast Dragonhawk series seem to be solidly engineered. I have another one that was, previous to this one, my favorite of all entry level pens I have tried (there have been many). This one blows it out of the water. The performance is so smooth! The machine is SO very quiet and well balanced/lightweight, very easy to handle. Operation was smooth at any setting and mode (it also does dot work!). It comes with 2 grips, I prefer the narrower green one with my family Pro likes the beefier one. Both are aluminum and very sturdy. All the parts seem well designed and well engineered, easy to clean and maintain. 2 Batteries are included. They are beefy and attach magnetically. There is also a solid adapter so you can still use your RCA wire from a machine. The displays on the batteries blew me away. They are touch screen! You can change the mode and memory and turn on and pause all from the touchscreen! They worked well even with gloves. Just be sure to preset them both before a long setting so you can switch out when one battery dies and still have all your needs readily met. Given the quality of the engineering, the materials of each of the components, the software needed for the display,the versatility of tasks (adjustable stroke, wide range of adjustable voltage, ability to do dot work, line work, shading, et cetera et cetera) and the inclusion of 2 batteries, two handles and 2 power cords, plus the RCA adapter and cord, I am really not sure how much of the price includes the presentation. As you can see in the pictures, it comes in a very nice presentation box. Some of the components are a cool green color, and some are a nice black. All have the snake imagery, which is very awesome. As for value, that really depends on your budget. If you have them money, then this is an awesome choice, no matter what level you are at. If you are a beginner on a tight budget, I would recommend waiting until you really are invested in tattooing yourself and or others ALOT to make this investment. If you have already spent a lot of time with inferior machines, you will find upgrading to this one to be amazing, you will enjoy the tattooing more and will feel your performance improve overnight. The experience is analogous to when I went from a clunky beach cruiser type bicycle to a multi speed road bike — suddenly I could ride faster, smoother, farther with much less fatigue and muscle effort, on a bike that adjusted to the road conditions! The transition from heavy inexpensive pens to this one was pretty much the same as that.
