  • A- Tattoo Kit
I purchased this Grinder kit for a nephew who needed something to get started with and was really impressed by the quality and quantity of stuff you get for the money in this kit. After a few weeks with this kit while showing my nephew the basics, I feel like it's time I left an actually useful review for those thinking of purchasing this kit. 1. Tattoo Machines - Grade: A These machines are GREAT to get started with. We've had no problems with them and they are more powerful than I had expected - true 10 coil machines. Out of the box, you need to tune these machines, but once you've done that they are good to go. They are not dedicated liners or shaders so you can tune them as you need it. The machines are lightweight (about 5-6oz) and easy to handle for a beginner. This is also great for someone experienced since it allows you to be lighthanded. I loved these machines so much, I kept one of the 4 for myself. 2. Power Supply - Grade B It's a standard power supply - nothing fancy. It does the job and puts out the amount of power needed for the tattoo machines to run smoothly. I like the LCD display over analog because it's easier to read. It comes paired with a standard foot pedal and clip cord too. None of these components are very fancy, but they work. When my nephew gets better at this, I'll probably upgrade this power supply to something better and he can keep this set as a backup. 3. Ink - Grade: B- You get a lot of 1/2oz bottles of ink in this kit. The ink quality isn't great, but it's decent. It's not too thin and it lays well, although it is not as dark as higher quality inks. You get what you pay for though, since truly good ink is like $4-5 for a 1/2 oz bottle. This type of ink is fine to practice with before you start building your professional color set. 4. Accessories - Grade: A+ You get a LOT of accessories. There's 50 needles in a bunch of the most used sizes - some liners and some shaders. It's a nice little mix, especially for someone who doesn't know what they like yet. You can start with this kit and try everything and decide what sizes you like to use most before buying full boxes of needles. The kit comes with little baggies of all the stuff you will need to replace like grommets and rubber bands... basically stuff you'll need to keep using your kit. The kit comes with stainless steel tips and disposable tips that match the needles that come in the kit. I personally prefer to use disposable tubes since it requires less cleaning, but the tips are fine too. The real reason why I am giving accessories an A+ is because this kit comes with a great instructional tattoo book that covers all the basics of tattoo, from machine mechanics to tuning the machines to fundamentals of outlining and shading work. The book itself is worth the purchase of this tattoo kit. Overall, this is a great kit to get started with. It comes with everything to get running out of the box. All you would need to purchase outside of this kit would be a larger bottle of black ink, a bottle of greensoap, and some A&D ointment. This is a great kit for a great price. If you're on the fence about making the purchase - just do it. I did and I am very happy with the purchase! ... show more

  • includes everything needed for tattoo art
Am a visual artist and a novice tattoo artist, already heavily tattooed but started working on myself late January 2021. Not sure I will ever be good enough to tattoo anyone else, but I have taken the route many tattoo artists have taken, at least Old School, experimenting and making mistakes on myself ;) Though I do feel good about the art I've added to the canvas that is my body (will throw in here I have a pretty strong sense of humor ;) This is a good kit. The one I received today is a back-up. I have spent many hours using the first kit, though I did order some additional ink, needles, and cups from Pirate Face (Their website seems to not be working for orders, at this time). I wore the first machine out, probably using it improperly, but it lasted many hours. There are no telling how many hours I have spent tattooing myself. The second machine, I dropped it and broke the nipple off the armature and possibly broke off a knob. The armature could likely be replaced, and now that I've learned things experientially on myself with the machines, I'm trying to learn more about coil machines and possible repair if I get to that point of proficiency. Am on the third machine now. And wanted to get a back-up machine in case the power supply goes out, the connector cord stops working, or I wear out the third and fourth machines. As an artist, I see art as being all about process, just as my dad, a self-taught professional artist did (He would have been an amazing tattoo artist but worked mostly in watercolor). Don't listen to anyone that tells you not to tattoo yourself, if you are serious about tattoo art and you don't mind "mistakes" ;) To me, 'mistakes' are valuable and can be beautiful. If anyone were to ever give me s#it about what I have done to myself with ink, I would laugh at them and tell them where to put it. Have courage, and enjoy it! If I ever were to touch a needle to someone else, of course I would have an autoclave and know how to use it. Definitely please be careful as far as potentially transmitting illness contagious through body fluids. I know, for me, I have made myself bleed at times (not intentionally, of course, but on lower legs and feet that has been more of an issue for me), and even the work a professional tattoo artist does pulls out some body fluids. I am holding on to my needles but would be unlikely to re-use them for tattoo art -- maybe in art in another capacity, or they might be useful for something else. It's a good kit and I appreciate the folks at Pirate Face and ACM USA. ... show more

  • Tattoo Kit -- Perfect for Starters
Pro: - Got the creative hand of tattooing fruit quickly - Wide selection of colors to play with - Find your style of Gun - Lots of Clean, Fresh and Safe needles ! Cons: - Not recommending to use on a Customer - Still considering of self tattooing... - Power Box is on the weak side. The Tattooing Kit is for the begging stages of practice tattooing. I would only recommend buying this product if you have some skill in drawing and knowledge in tattooing! On the up side, This Kit is perfect to tattoo Fruit and Pig's skin; as well as the Kit is a all in one briefcase, with a clean black and silver finish. The traveling kit is handy, in addition the Accessories are well appreciated with a pair of gloves and a Wide Selection of Colors, including the Selection of Guns! The only down side I see in this product is the power source could be a little stronger but for the most part, I love the Tattoo Kit as its a start to my career. ... show more

  • The Book is Amazing!
Love this product! I’m interested in teaching myself basic tattoo skills before seeking an apprenticeship. I have only put together one of the machines once to practice setting up and to make sure the power supply worked. I’m reading the book that came with it and HIGHLY recommend anyone wanting to learn to tattoo to buy this set even if just for the book! It is extremely informative and gives you all the information you need to know as far as what is standard in the tattoo industry and what comes with practice and learning your own style (things that have no “right” way to do it). This took the worry of possibly “learning something wrong” away. Of course this will not teach me everything I would learn in an apprenticeship and I will NOT be tattooing anything but fake skin and fruit, I am very happy with the basic knowledge this book gave me from set up, to parts, to tuning, replacing, and making your own parts. Also it teaches you some basics about inks, sterilization, cold warm and hot zones, amps and watts, different needle groupings, and even tells you of a few companies you can research to purchase items from. Really excited to watch the video that comes with this kit and to attempt my first tattoo on fake skin. ... show more

  • Decent for someone just starting out ...
For someone just starting out and only practicing on fruits and themselves it’s decent. Don’t get me wrong you can do some nice tattoos with these machines but once you experience a high quality machine you won’t want to touch these. Although I’ve been tattooing for about 2 years now, and the amp that came with this kit is still running ! Crossed fingers it keeps running, unfortunately the clip cord and pedal both shorted out and no longer work. Being handy I managed to resolver the end connections and make my own pedal switch and clip cord which have been working great. But as far as the ink that comes with this kit I would honestly just throw it all away unless your just using it on fruit. Pick yourself up some intenz ink works great and not too expensive if you buy a color set. Also the book and dvd are worthless. Watched the whole dvd didn’t learn anything really I hadn’t already heard off YouTube. Also the book was a waste of time read it at least twice the only advice it really gives you is to get an apprenticeship which is not necessary to learn how to do great tats. Will say this kit got me started so I can’t be too hard on it but it does the job if you can’t afford anything else. If you can pick up a stealth clone rotary machine and some new ink you’ll be set. The stealth clone can be used for lining and shading, and works great. But if you need multiple machines which is almost needed at all times pick up a handmade dams as steel liner love that machine works great for nice thick clean one pass lines. In conclusion it just depends on your financial situation but I’d recommend this for someone just starting out but just don’t use the fake skin it comes with it’s nothing like skin it’s more like tatting a dvd case lol. ... show more

  • Literally All I can say in 1 review, great deal!!
Everything I hoped for. Now it is slightly different than the Grinder from the Pirate Face website. The things I noticed is the power supply & foot petal are different than the picture on their website, BUT the same as pictured here on amazon. Also I think the original 15 inks from the Pirate Face website in this kit had poor reviews & performance. The set of 7 Radiant Colors inks in this Amazon kit are actually a higher grade, American made sterilized ink that has good reviews & is safer than the others, & also cost over $25 purchased seperate. The book included is also on amazon for once was $50 now on sale for $33 seems to be legit. I have only started my reading but it got my attention & I will finish it soon. The machines aka "guns" are a decent medium weight selection, where another kit I had ordered had an extremely heavy & a lightweght gun, which werent bad but for a beginner may not be comfortable. I like the variety of needles & disposable tips, along with the steel tips, but should be properly sanitized between & before uses. I have not viewed the dvd but guess its decent, but I have gathered that it is only 1 of many in a series you can purchase. The only thing I wont use it the practice rubber skin & the transfew paper. I currently use ill advised wax paper & deodorant transfer method jail house style but recommend doing it the right way. I also practice on the front of my legs on upper thighs which again os not recommended & advised against but I prefer be my own expirament rather than an unsuspecting victim. Practice proper sanitation, hygeine, all around clean, sterile & professional work environment to avoid infection or injury. People shun at home tattoo artists aka scratchers but me & my wife ONLY practice on each other. May not be smart but kind of victimless...we are aware the dangers. So please educate yourself, & practice safely. Bad, unethical habits are hard to break. Order equipment covers, green soap & if using steel tips, tubes etc buy a sanitizer/autoclave, which can all be conveniently purchased right here on Amazon. By the way this kit is $25 less here than on other sites so if you get it I would buy it here. & if theres an issue or a problem from my own personal experiences am pretty sure Amazon will do everything & anything possible to make wrong right. So do your homework, but beware of the cheaper $30-$60 kits that contain bad import ink & poor quality lightweight power supply because you will be disappointed, trust me. I have twice. & its smart to always have a backup power supply in case yours breaks half way through a tattoo. Very frustrating. I got an analog Monster Point power supply here on amazon for about $15 & it is heavy duty & really works. I think thats about all i can or should put in my review but this is the best & our favorite set so far. Enjoy! ... show more

  • very nice
some of the reviews made me cautious when buying this product . that being said i now have to write my own. the people complaining about the "poor quality" of the power supply must not have know how to properly run it. if you tune the machines correctly and run them at the proper volts you will have no trouble with the supply. the machines are all of good quality and when properly tuned they run super smooth. read the instructional book in the kit if you have questions about how to tune the machines for different set ups. the book jumps around some but the information you need is all there. don't get over excited and skip reading the book if you are just starting out. you may regret it. all of the supplies in this kit were great, except the ink and the sheet of practice skin. the skin was cheap quality and basically useless. the ink is useless except for practicing on fake skin oranges or pigs. do not use this brand of ink on humans!!! but as far as the parts of the kit that were actually important the needles the machines the power supply foot pedal tubes ect... these were all great quality. sure there is better out there somewhere , but not at this price there isn't . deff recommend these to any beginner. even for a professional who wants a few new machines at a decent price. ... show more
